What are some designers that cut smaller and whose clothes fit tighter? I always have trouble finding high quality clothes that fit me as I'm really small... The problem with childrens sizes sometimes is that their sleeves are often too small or they don't provide enough room for a bust :ninja:

Well, you could always get your clothing custom tailored if you have money. If you have time, talent and a sewing machine you could alter them yourself. Several stores also have specialty petite sections.

Haha I definitely don't have the talent or better yet even any sort of basic knowledge to sew... I definitely get a few things tailored, but I mean, even just for basics.. I wouldn't get a few plain shirts tailored

I have a small waist and butt and I wear Frankie B jeans and pants

For shirts, I usually buy the smallest size and I take them in (sew the sides in about an inch)

Or, if you buy the button down shirts, make sure they have darts in them cause those are easier to take in as well

does frankie B only have stores in the states?

Hmm, Iv've actually never been to/seen a Frankie b. STORE, but I've seen many department stores carry them...

bershka makes really tiny trendy clothes - i like them.
diesel also makes great jeans that fit perfect on small framed bodies, & usually dior's smallest size (36) fits perfect =)

Help And Suggestions

I am very tired of shopping in the children’s section:yuk:.I'm 4'10 and 105 lbs. Do you guys have any recommendations on where I can shop online where they might have some very small sizes while look very grown up? I'm just tired of being mistaken for being a child and would like to dress and look my age. Any suggestions?

Hello TrickB! I too am petite. Throughout the years i've collected a number of signature pieces for a professional look as well as evening wear from the places listed below. Also, I thought i should let you know that i've never purchsed a pair of pants that were ready to wear, even jeans- all had to be altered. Here are a few places to look over. These links will directly take you to their store locator.
Other Places I don't normally go to, but you may find something you like:
*Most department stores like Strawbridges, Macy's or JC Penny's have a petite section for women, but if you're looking for jeans, skip those listed b/c they tend to have more of the "mom jeans", but you may have luck at the high end dept. stores. Did i mention how much i love dept. stores?!? :D

& finally, my greatest gem would be Korean clothing boutiques b/c they pretty much carry only petite sizes. I've gotten, most all of my trousers from various Korean clothing places that are usually located in your nearest Korea-Town or strip where they have Korean stores bunched together. I love having unique clothing and can find things like elegant & full collared white button-down shirts for work and dressy tops.

omg thanks so much. you just saved me a bunch of time. You should know how hard it is to be such a small size. AGAIN THANkS SO MUCH :flower::heart:

you should still wear kids' jeans...you can get designer jeans for like $100 ...

Why do people always tell skinny-minnies and shortie-minnies to go to the kids' department? Most kids' clothes don't fit us properly because no matter how slim we are, we aren't shaped like a tween! A pair of size 12 girls' pants may fit me length-wise, but it won't fit at the waist/hip area. Size 12 is generally worn by 9 or 10 year old girls who don't really have developed waist/hips.

I agree with writergal. And none of those stores that have been posted are in Canada; any that are are millions of miles away from me and are those stores that don't stock petite clothes, anyway. :( Though they probably wouldn't fit me knowing my luck; I've bought petite things before (because "normal" people's clothes are either too long in the legs or too wide in the waist) and the legs were too short!

Oh well..all you petite ladies in US have it easier..you get size 0. In Europe it's really a problem for me since the smallest size is like a US 4 and occassionally we get a US 2 :(
And I've only got like 3 shops to shop in..and the H&M which used to stock small sizes now stopped..so I'm stuck now. :(

Actually, you can get Banana petites in Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa, but if you're familiar with Banana, size 0P is HUGE! Laura Petites and Reitmans petites stop at size 2, which is often too baggy. So if you're short and very slim, you're out of luck.

Oh and TJ Maxx and Winners are owned by the same people

A size 0 at the Gap is pretty much the same as an H&M size 4.

Well, the nearest place to me is Toronto, but I would probably end up spending more to get there than on actual clothes! And it is also annoying to have to go all the way there to buy stuff that fits; especially if it ends up breaking almost straight away.

And I am short and slim. :( I managed to find some clothes that fit in a second-hand store, but it took ages finding stuff. The majority of the clothes I bought are 2's and 4's and a lot of the time they were too long, too baggy, or I couldn't fit them over my hips. It's like they think skinny people can't have curves, or something. The shop assistants also made me try on children's clothes, but of course they wouldn't even fit over my thighs.

Eurasian Melange, where in Canada are you? Have you tried Reitmans? They have petites that look pretty decent on younger women.

You can rant about your height issues on my website

I am petite and slim, and I find my clothes at the spanish shop Massimo Dutti, which has gorgeous things and is very much a cut above the Zaras and H&M of this world.

I forgot, I also shop at Benetton. Petite and colourful ^_^

Writergal - I am in Kingston. I haven't seen a Reitmans here as of yet, but I will keep an eye out for one. Thanks for the link to your site; it is nice to have somewhere to rant when you need to let a little steam out about something annoying.
