Philipp Plein F/W 2025.26 Milan

D-Squared poor cousin...what the f.uck did that guy to his face??? He looks like a male version of Jocelyn Wildenstein!
This is going to sound horrific but at one point it occurred to me that this collection is objectively better than what we’ve seen at Versace + D2 generally speaking

The problem with this comparison is that Philipp Plein exists as a derivative of Dsquared and has copied them 1:1 more times than I can count. For years PP was basically just crappy echoes collections of Dsq clothes from 2-4 seasons earlier.

One unmistakable, unforgivable example is all I have energy for.

Dsquared Fall 2008 gave us jeans with centered rear text (yes you can cite Juicy Couture etc if you like) and a smaller nested "ticket pocket":

Dsquared Fall 2008 also featured jeans with a distressed red tartan patch on the right rear pocket, overstitched in red. (Pretty specific, no?)

I don't have the photographic evidence on hand, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that Dsquared also made jeans with much smaller centered red text in a serif font (which is relatively unusual in small-scale embroidery). They also made jeans with a logo-stamped oversized leather patch at the rear waistband.

After all of the above ...

Philipp Plein debuts the following jeans, featuring centered rear text in a serif font with a smaller nested ticket pocket and a distressed red tartan patch on the right rear pocket, overstitched in red, featuring a logo-stamped oversized leather patch at the rear waistband (the stamp even -- randomly -- says "COWBOY" which was a previous D2 collection theme, though not from FW08):

Zoom in on that picture, it 'embiggens' nicely. It is one of the most shameless examples of plagiarism I've ever seen.
