Philipp Plein Mens S/S 2020 Milan

Say what you want but he knows his customer and he gives them exactly what they want. He's literal and unapologetically tacky. He's not trying to be taken seriously.

He is doing his thing and apparently it works for him. Honestly it's not that bad according to his aesthetics and some of the looks are close to recent men Versace...

Ugh! So literal.

That's the thing about Plein. He's a suit masquerading as a designer. So he struck a deal with KISS, not surprising for a band who run Father's Day merchandise specials on their social media. And of course the businessman in him made sure he got the most out of this deal. If every single look we see here (91, btw) could have shown the logo, trust me, he would've done it.

But I'm not too phased about the KISS partnership. It is the blatant thievery which irks me. He fished all the hit-making looks from Gucci, Saint Laurent, Versace....and from recent collections too. But of course he's not talented enough to disguise it or make it his own, so the entire thing just ends up looking vulgar.

My thoughts... few looks are very Versace but the whole collection is real tackiness.

A joke of a band joining a joke of a designer to recreate a tired old caricature of old LA rockers. It's clownish, beyond tacky. And sad because you can see not only the big brands he copied but also a few staples created by smaller designers.

It is also extremely hard for me to see some pretty outspoken feminists walking for a well known misogynist.
