I feel like the difference between Smith and Plain is that in the first case the tackiness is intentional. This can be seen in the styling, model choice and references which are aesthetically consistent. With Plein its very random. In one collection he has looks that are acceptable (look 17, look 16) but at the same time there are some that make no sense if you are not a p*rnstar.
