I love this actor and this is sad he has no thread onto there...
This is all about his charm... more than his style... but anyway charm is part of style (what a dull sentence!)

He acted in Belle de Jour with Deneuve, The Léopard, the idols etc.
unfortunately he had a big time and then nothing...
but he was so hoot... that I wanted to open a thread for him... if you don't him or see him in a movie but never knew who he was... time for you to (re)discover

I watched Belle de Jour a couple times and don't remember him causing a big impression on me, but I just saw some stills of the film and dang, was he gorgeous or what.

French actor Pierre Clémenti made his film debut in Luchino Visconti's Il Gatopardo (The Leopard) (1963). Dark, slender, and handsome, Clémenti is frequently cast as a cruel, volatile, or decadent character. Before entering films, he had extensive experience on the Paris stage. Though he appeared in two more films during the early to mid-'60s, it was not until he starred in Luis Buñuel's Belle de Jour (1967) that the actor gained international fame. Clémenti subsequently appeared in many European productions. In 1972, his career was derailed after he was sentenced to prison for allegedly possessing or using drugs. Due to insufficient evidence, Clémenti was released after 17 months; later he penned a book about his time in prison. Throughout his career, he continued to be active on-stage; he was also involved with the French underground film movement. He was so striking; like a mixture of Rudolf Nureyev and Cillian Murphy. I'm sad that his career didn't really take off despite such memorable performances (actually I was so put off by the creepy, gross character he portrayed so well in Belle de Jour that it took me a while to appreciate how beautiful and talented he was, haha) and also that he died relatively young.

Had no idea he wrote a memoir, pity I don't understand much French

Gorgeous! Thank you for starting this thread, I loved him in Belle de Jour. It's interesting to see him with Klaus Kinski (I think that's him?) in post #11. He's another underrated actor I like.

It's crazy how gorgeous he was.. I wonder if he was considered that attractive back in the day, since his 'handsomeness' feels, at least to me, very now.. you rarely spot faces like his in 60s/70s movies..
