Please Help Me With My Homework/Research/Survey

Question about my thesis

Hi!

I'm writing my thesis to graduate from a Business school in Brussels about The development of Luxury fashion in Romania.

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question:

- Who knows a Romanian designer that I could contact?
- How many persons are in a design team? I mean in big companies like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, ...
- Do you think "Trading Up" is relevant for luxury products or only for companies that are not in the sector of luxury and want to access it?

Your input would be highly appreciated! :D

Hello, I have another question that I hope you can answer for my research, this is more like a survey.
I would like to know your opinion about fashion cities, I know there is a list of top fashion cities each year, but I really need some personal opinions about this:
WHICH FASHION CITY YOU THINK IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND WHY?
WHICH ONE INFLUENCES MORE THE FASHION WORLD?

I hope you give me your opinion. Thank you very much!

ANY OPINION? thank you ^_^

Virlly,

To give you my personal opinion, I think Paris is the most important fashion capital of the world. These are a few reasons:

- it is where Haute Couture shows and even if it is accessible to very few persons in the world, it influences the way people perceive fashion and it also makes everyone dream which is, to me, the most important aspect of fashion.
- Paris is also in Europe and the birth of fashion happened there.
- The craftmanship behind the gowns and frocks designed in Paris are always amazing and i believe that even if every other fashion capital have their own target (New York: sportswear & Milan: italian glamour), Paris fashion is always timeless, chic and well-rounded.

This is my opinion...
Hope it helps :)

For me it is Milan...
Although considering all the designers showing in Milan, maybe not so...
but quite a lot of the strongest ones are there, even if they are few

Prada, Raf, Marni...

They are experimental in their approach
and lead to break-throughs in new colour schemes and textile technologies

They're exciting to watch!

Haute couture

I am currently in my third year at Leeds Metropolitan University and in the process of writing my dissertation, I have decided to research into the topic of Haute Couture and how relevant it is in today’s fashion industry.

I would greatly appreciate hearing your views on the following questions:

1. Do you think couture is a necessary part of the fashion industry?
2. What do you think it does for the industry?
3. Can you foresee a time when couture may die out?
4. What do you think the consequences of loosing it may be?

Any feedback you could offer will help me significantly within my project and give a much greater understanding of the topic.:D

That's a great idea for a dissertation, what is your field of study? You're in luck, because there are a lot of recent articles about the relevance of haute couture and its place in the fashion industry. I think it's mostly because of the recession, and journalists, as well as fashion insiders, were discussing those very questions. I would start by looking at fashion-related articles and collection reviews around the time of the last couture season. Also google "haute couture recession".

Of course, your dissertation doesn't have to be so specific or focused on current events, but I feel that it's a good - and timely - starting point for broaching the subject.

hey, yer i've found some really good articles, my course is Retail Marketing Management. Just trying to get some primary research together now x

I wonder about non-designer side of haute couture..
None of the Lacroix, Chanel..
if there is such thing as that.

Like in men's wear you have the tailor who make bespoke jackets and shirts for men. I believe they go around $2,000 and more in Paris... They can be designed but many times they are also basic and practical
I wonder if there is a women's variant in the rest of the world. I only heard of women's tailoring but nothing like basic dresses and so on, done the couture way

This changes the expense I think...
compared to buying something from a famous designer

Sam d17, have you read Deluxe by Dana Thomas or The End of Fashion by Teri Agins? Both of them have a lot of good stuff for your research!

That's almost like what Akris does.
They create extraordinarily simple and very chic demi-couture clothes, and I read that their profits sometimes exceed the likes of Chanel . .
I love Akris.

thank you  will research them !
i've come across "demi couture" before here on the forums
i think it's a little different, like a runway design that was customized for a client, a change in trim or button etc. but it doesn't go so far as to have it custom fit the client

interesting when they write it is a modern version of haute couture

i am just wondering about, say basic dresses but they fit the client
like custom fit suits and shirts for men can be easily found nowadays.. i wonder if it is the same for women.
something that can be very everyday and not scream designer

just thinking about this, when visiting the History of Style forum
when many of the designs are quite easy to wear and not so over powering

Hey, Would you guys mind taking this survey for me really quickly, it's for a Human Relations project I'm working on. All you have to do is rate these models' physical attractiveness on a scale of 1-10. I would really appreciate your help! Thanks

Heya guys, I'm just wondering if anyone thinks of any collections connected with any of these these four words:
