Karl Lagerfeld
Miuccia Prada
Stefano Pilati
Nicolas Ghesquiere
Michael Kors
John Galliano
Marc Jacobs
The first four names that I mentioned were the driving forces of the new conservative movement. Chanel tweed, high waists by Pilati. And even though they can't afford it, even 18 year olds are getting influenced by whatever these four designers put on the runway. Lagerfeld mixes vintage Chanel designs with light colours that younger people can buy, which is a pompromise for people who are getting older so that they don't look old but they don't look immature neither. Michael Kors can be the fifth member of that group, although he makes it more American and casual.
Galliano's there because he's cool.
Marc Jacobs for incorporating New York/Bohemian influences.
There are other movements going around, like hip hop, but I don't know who I can crown (or baseball cap) as the designer who polished it into a respected style statement.
