I see it this way: Pointy toes are very 2000. A few years ago, it was all the rage, and everyone produced a pair or 50 of those. But it shifted and nearly all the major designers don't do pointy toes anymore. I tend to go with the general feeling of fashion that is in the air (sounds strange, but I believe that there is something like that) and therefore I say:
NO to pointy toes and YES to rounded toes.
It just makes an outfit look a lot cuter, which is good, cause pointy might look menancingly sexy, but the way it is worn by most people, it's edging on plain ugly.
Besides, round toes look more sophisticated and these days, fashion is all about sophistication and modifications and abstractions thereof, so it just underlines this notion. Not to mention that a pair of cute roundtoed shoes (think Louis Vuitton Balmorals, with the 4 inch heel) can give a sexy look that certain "dirty innocence" feeling.
