I'm not a fan of this at all. Weird expression. Porter has totally gone off the boil lately.

Vogue China August 2017 did it marginally better. It feels fresh and natural, but that's all.

I suppose this counts as a bad shot of Cameron, if such a thing could exist. She looks like she's been caught mid-conversation outdoors on a windy day.

I understand that Lucy's model choice reflects the substance of Porter (Bella aside), but why must the covers look so off? Cameron Russell's beauty, appeal, shape is so easy to work with, yet Cass Bird failed. Bird wasn't the ideal photographer for this. This really looks like someone caught off-guard on her way to a garden party, basically, a Bruce Weber image.

Only plus is the visible crow's feet, which I think adds character to her

Very behind-the-scenes. I never expect of Porter to deliver an epic studio-shot cover, but please try a little. Maybe their policy is to make it look easygoing and spontaneous, but it never works for me.
Issues of Porter in my magazine collection: 0.

Lucky people who get to decide on the content of a magazine cover are probably paid tons of money and are well respected for their artistic talents. Sometimes I just don't understand their "visions"! This is one of those times.

Couldn't agree with you more, and must confess that I haven't been all too motivated by Porter's recent offerings either. I do prefer the look of this over the snoozefest that was Summer Escape with Doutzen and Imaan. Although I also dislike how unflattering the cover shot is of Cameron (definitely caught off-guard I agree, tigerrouge). They done a better job for Cameron's shoot for The Edit back in February!

Seriously, if I was an editor I would poach that entire team. I don't even know how Lucy can see how The Edit is turning out such amazing work week after week, yet never taps into some of that. And when she does, it's literally the rejects of the lesser shots.
