Prada Pre-Fall 2017 by Willy Vanderperre

The shots with Selena & Nina are quite nice. Makes me want to watch Mad Men again.

I don't like willy's photography and I hate the lighting here. But overall is not bad. I like the set.

Surprised to see Selena, and even tho I don't like her, I couldn't be bothered by her presence here. I don't care for the other girl either, so Kris stole the show as expected.

So bland, at least Meisel created some sort of atmosphere feel.

They only needed Kris. Really would love to see Kris in an only girl campaign for the brand...like the good ol' Sasha x Prada days. Selena is beyond a bore in front of the camera, and this other girl...forgettable to say the least.

Something is wrong about it. The obvious push of the bags is kinda tacky when trying to do such a "cinematic" feel. It lacks in mystery.

Definitely lacks mystery and the cinematic feel is not pushed further enough for my taste.

I don't mind the setting at all, but would have preferred a more "nighttime" lighting design...something maybe a bit more along the lines of the Fall/Winter 2005 campaign. It needs a touch of Philip Lorca DiCoria here.

I feel like the Prada prestige is gone now. In terms of casting, photography, and produce. This is good, and I like some of the shots, but it could literally be for any other brand. I'm beginning to have my doubts re Willy Vanderperre. Prada's designs are constantly changing, so they cannot have a repetitive photographer. Marc Jacobs is the same in that way, which forced David Sims to very quickly expand his repertoire. Vanderperre literally need to come up with an entirely new concept for each collection and it doesn't look like it will never happen. He's too close-minded for that.

And you may not be the only one judging by the low circulation of their stores in Europe...

Not sure I understand the constant need for multi multi multi everything. It takes away any potential for an idea or an image to have any impact.

Bummer that Prada cannot get out of this schtick.

^ Agree. This need to push out "content" is really starting to cheapen the brand IMO.

Jessica looks beautiful, but the imagery isn't as strong as her previous campaign.

Cheapen the brand? If anything Jessica's ads look very chic and luxurious. I don't have a problem with multiple concepts. I do however have a problem with the repetitiveness of the ads in magazines. We don't need 3 different picture of the same look, that's unnecessary.

While I agree with you re Jessica's campaign, I actually think it should have been the only one published (I like it more than the first one). No need for the models. But of course they wouldn't, they're simply not confident enough to send out one campaign for all. There must be 10 different ones to appeal to everyone under the sun. Whether it's a blatant money grab, or just not enough faith in Vanderperre pov, I don't know.

But I agree with him, he's right when he say that multi campaigns are cheapening this brand. Reeks of desperation, imo.

They all look the same. Why is everyone ditching Meisel? Does he not want to work anymore?

I like both parts of the campaign, Jessica is so elegant and has a timeless beauty, I absolutely adore what she transmits through the camera. The models are all young but they are doing a nice job, although the images look a bit stiff, especially with those bags positioned in the foreground, the only thing missing is a text with written "buy me!"

So overall I like the campaign, I'm afraid Vanderperre's work will become repetitive as I had said for the resort campaign. I hope I'm wrong of course.
