Prada S/S 07 Milan

I have the perfect analogy/snark when it comes to the African reference, but it's a taboo subject here.

Nonetheless, seeing the mens show a while ago, I was really anticipating this collection. And lemme say, it's leagues better than the pretentious turd that she was trying to spoonfeed the public since Fall 2005. It's artistic, digital. The shortness of someof the clothes and the shoes were a tad awkward, but that was it. Looking forward to Miu Miu!

getting much much better!! i was scared at the beggining but the whole thing looks good right now.
some hot bags, some hot belts, some hot shoes and besides the WAY TOO SHORT stuff all the rest is 100% perfect! 100% PRADA!

Well, this should be the most honest reply ever what an average fashion follower is looking for at Prada... it's one thing to go for an odd standout accessory piece here and there... such as those small robot charms she did a while back... an impossible piece of footwear (those fushia patent peep-toe boots from last season come to mind - who on earth bought those?!) or on a much bigger scale - belts, handbags and wallets.

There were a couple of safe, light summer dresses thrown into the mix of odd clothing, but aside, I don't really see much of a proposition of what people can actually wear from Mrs Prada.

Did anybody notice how the styling has gone downhill at Prada every season? those belts she chose to cinch the waists on some pieces... they were clearly not intended to fit a waist, the leather also seems to be way stiff to allow it to be folded up like that... oh well...

what a disappointment, i absolutely loved the f/w 2006-2007 collection so i really had my hopes up for this spring collection.

the proportions are really off, and the skirts look like Ann-Sofie Back gone Las Vegas.

but i like some of the coats though..

whoa! a hundred posts already...
anyways, totally NOT what i expected. so pretty and feminine..basically everything i didn't want to see. :ermm:

in fact..i'd have loved to see something totally unwearable. not in this way though. something similar to the men's collection.
like mulletproof said, the collection reminds me of a lot of the previous stuff. fall 2002 was very satin-y for example.

right now though, it looks kind of half-hearted...not the shoes though. ALWAYS cool shoes.

well actually...the DID get into the wrong hands. :p i think one of the girls from that p*ssy cat dolls band wore them. :ninja:

^there is a lot of 'pretty' and 'feminine' stuff on the runways for spring.

yeah the colors remind me of ghana or west african coast , mixed with 40/50s pinup girl
especially the headscarves, Im really torn about what to think of it.

yes I love the shoes! everything else not so much. The headgear isn't working for me, but the colors are gorgeous.

i know that pushing the boundaries of fashion is part of what makes miuccia's designs so magnificent and covetable, but taste wise, i just don't get this collection.

i agree with mullet, that this is a throw back to her "sexy" collection from fall 2002, which was definately one of her best. however, i don't find this to be appealing at all.

yes, but that's not necessarily what's important. the dropped waist silhouette for example...it looks like the most important shape so far, and it's origin is male-inspired.
in this huge sea of collections only a FEW really reflect what's going on imo...

*i wanted to mention this whole african theme as well...the way it was approached is very much the way yves saint laurent would have done it(and did).. ^_^
the raffia-looking fringe is his, the headdresses, very short hemlines..all very 60's ysl. the only thing missing (i think) are ethnic models.

Everytime I open a thread for one of the collections I've been looking forward to, I get an anxious/excited kind of feeling. This is one of those rare times where I'm just completely taken aback. Totally unexpected doesn't even begin to describe it.

I see plenty of past Prada ideas being reinterpreted, but the overall look seems very strange. I like some of the colors and color combinations she's using (that rich purple and deep red offset with beige a few pages back ) But the rest is just so....I don't even know, I'm at a total loss for words.

As Pastry said, it's not at all what I was expecting or wanting from Prada after last season.

And that fringed coat is just not cool. I like the turbans though.

Eww. I hate it. I thought the men's collection was really cool to begin with, but now I don't like that one either. The colors are all wrong, the skirts are too short, and the fringes are just ugly. I can't wait for Style.com to roll out with pictures of the good looks! There have to be some in there, right?

I really like this collextions and the colours it makes me happy and I love the turbans.. very original.

Interesting.. it's kind of a weird collection but I love it! Those shoes!

wtf is up with those silky super short shorts? i hate that proportion
i think the turbans are kind of weird and all this fringed stuff is horrid... .... i love the color palette but this isn't a very good collection

What.....the.....hell.....????!!!! You'd think Prada MIGHT get better over time, but this is just tasteless and those dresses literally look like garbage sacks, sorts like the ones you get in the mail that you donate clothes in.

I like Prada. She excites me most of the time. Most of the time she's right on point, most of the time the atmosphere of her collection feels right and fresh to me, fresh is the mood I always look for in a new and good collection.
though I did not like her last summer collection as well, it was too weird and childish for me, and not in a good prada way; her fall collection was so right, so mood setting, so pretty in the prada way, very fresh new and right on point. Following the fall collection, and on it's own, this collection is  BAD:shock: , so very bad. the too short stuff does not feel new or fresh or right for this moment, not provocative, just plain silly and old really. the whole thing really does not push the envelope even a bit, which is what i expect from prada even if the clothes are ugly. this does not do it. the sheer black stuff is too expected, the fringe stuff also old and just not cool, the whole collection is not cool, the shoes are terrible, fringy bag is good, i like the black dress on stam and thats it. So very disappointing:cry:

I don't care for the jewel tones and I am confused as to why turbans keep showing up on the runway.
