Has any of our members in London checked their space out? I never even knew they had a shop :o

It's a small, intimate space from what I can see. Really looks good.

The address is 5 Portobello Green Arcade

No there wasn't an article. I was actually doing a search on them and found a site devoted to shopping development in that particular area. Perhaps, the next Dover Street?

I've never heard of that area either. I think I remember being said that Thea and Justin are based in the Portobello area though. Must be in the general vacinity as the market and everything,no?

Yeah,I love these two...have since I first saw an article on them in a '99 issue of Elle. They've always been my most favourite of the London scene with their Victorian/Edwardian/Medievel connotations. However...I have been a little disappointed in their most recent attempts. They're nothing like their early, more continuous collections. Thank heavens though this latest collection has hints of the early Preen style.

i think we need a firsthand report...
stilista or sean...??
helena...when's the next time you'll be in london...
who else?...impossible princess....!
come on people...!!!...

someone needs to get a look and report back!!..:flower:

PLEASE!!!!

You know I was thinking, the fact we didn't know much about they having a shop says something about them. They're not hype driven. I would expect one's first space is a very intimate ordeal....like when Ann Demeulemeester opened hers...she didn't make a big fuss about it nor did she really want it from the media.

Agreed Sott they don't seem to be courting the fashion press at all....

I am going to be in London in just over two weeks so I will see if I can check it out - sounds like its in Notting Hill (if its near Portobello) and I am planning to go there (amoungst other places). Happy to check it out Scott & I'll report back.

I really like the preen name typeface design.....

That's it,Helena...you just made me remember where they said the two were based at. Notting Hill...

I think the quietness is also a reflection of where they came from. Both are from a quiet island along the British Isles...so it makes perfect sense why they're not really keen on alot of publicity.

Thanks Helena. You're a real gem. If I had the extra money,I'd take a side trip after Paris in October...but may have to wait till I actually supplant myself in Europe.

Oh an about the label graphic....that always reminds me of skeletal bones, for some reason. Like it represents the sea and fishermen and such. Again,as if being part of where they came from.

can't wait to hear your report helena..!!..:flower:

Scott do you know what island they are from- I really didn't know that.....? when I see the label graphic I think it looks kind of Dickensian - I can see the fisherman & sea thing too. I know it sounds silly (in the context of marketing) but I think I respect them more because they aren't interested in extensive self promotion.
are you moving to eurpoe scott?

On Showstudio, their bio says they've known each other since 18 whilst living and studying on the Isle of Man. I know of it,but is it really as serene as I might've suggested? Seems like it is despite the popular nature.

Yeah,I really meant fish skeleton. But when I look at again,it also makes one think of algae too. Especially with the text.

I hope so,Helena. I'm going to Paris in October and hopefully I can schmooze myself into an assistant stylist's job for the time being. For lack of a better paraphrase. I am getting a bit desperate at this junction....especially since I'm from so far away...it's not easy. After that,I will most likely be in Antwerpen.

Okay...I read the entire bio on Showstudio. It says that the shop has actually been open since '96! Apparently, they were also using it as a atelier as well. My word..they've been around for quite a while it appears. Are you sure they're not actually Belgian? That sounds like the modest way Belgian develop their collections.
