Preview Magazine Philippines

I don't like it! The dress looks like if it was photoshoped

LOL this is hilarious. It says "Tribute to McQueen" but they put a McQueen rip-off in the cover. Hahaha..

LOL. They can't afford a real McQueen dress! Go buy them one!

What I like about Preview is that they're Nationalistic. Yeah we all know that what they used was a KNOCK OFF but it's how our local designers payed tribute to McQueen.

she's wearing a Cary Santiago dress, a fairly well-known designer in the Philippines.

I don't like it. But I love Georgina and she looks pretty good.
No actual McQueen pieces are featured inside.
This cover could've been way better.

I love Georgina, but I don't like the cover. And that McQueen knockoff is sooo embarrassing. Preview's getting boring for me. Their content isn't as great as before.

They told different designers to do their own version of a McQueen classic. It was intended to be like that.

@ Franzy

yes, it was intended and destined to be the cheap disgusting magazine that it is.

To think that my nanny thought they had it bad on the Mrs. Pacquiao cover! but I hope she forgets about it just like those who forgot how extremely humiliating this magazine can get.

Doesn't look good. Georgina looks clueless. The idea of a knock off is absolutely hilarious though.

I'm sorry I can no longer contain myself. I really have A LOT of things to say about this cover.

I don't have anything against Georgina Wilson but this magazine cover SCREAMS FASHION RIP OFF!

First: I find her pose highly generic! The photo looks like a far 5th copy of an editorial/feature from Elle.

*Although, I don't even think any recognized international magazine would have something as ugly and generic as this.

Second: Her GENERIC hair and make-up makes her look like a bigger version of Raquel Zimmerman.

Third: The color scheme and cover lines are always too playful, tacky, repetitive and uncreative! Everything about it just screams attention!

Fourth: That God Damn Dress!!!

seriously? You think this is a "way" of showcasing a tribute? Preview is just cost cutting and just instructing a backwater "designer" to rip a certain designer off from their designs because they don't want to spend money to save their worthless name.

Has anyone bumped their head and forgot about "Balmain" for Maricel Soriano?

Moreover!!! I think I should stop... because honestly, WHO EVEN BUYS THIS TRASH?!?!?!

^ Gosh, take a chill pill honey. It's not the end of the world. :)

Fashion Rip Off - ZARA. Philippines is not the only one. Defending my third world country

@franzy

Oh! Thank you for your concern!

but I think I'm fine as long I'm not a religious reader of Preview. :)

:flower:

Honestly, the reason why I like Preview is try comparing it to the others (Mega & Metro) and in my opinion it's the best. Mega and Metro is a bit bland.

Who is attacking your country?

I believe you are not defending your third world country but rather you are defending Preview. However you are still not defending it because in fact, you are even acknowledging it as a Fashion Rip Off magazine by claiming that it is...... along with Zara.

Preview or Not, VOGUE's the best

Honestly, this issue is just fine. Nothing spectacular or whatsoever.

The cover..well..it's kind of disappointing actually because they made Georgina look ridiculous or just to refrain from using offensive terms, a trying hard mannequin.:D At first, I was having mixed emotions about the cover especially because of that McQueen-esque dress she's wearing. But when I bought it and flipped through the page of the cover that didn't make it, I was like "Oh God, they should have went for this one!". It looks much better than the photo that they have chosen for as the cover. But as for her editorial, it isn't that bad actually. The team have managed to capture McQueen's aesthetic or should I say, their tribute is well done. :)

As for the editorials, I only like Apocalypto with that Lara Stone wanna-be Pauline Prieto.:D The styling is superb. For me, it could actually pass a VP editorial. :D;) Voyage to Mars reminds me of Camilla Akrans' work.

Regarding Preview Men, I think it would be better if they have just produced it as a supplement issue. :)

Preview will always be a fifth-rate magazine so long as they continue to rip off Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia and slavishly slobber all over the runways of Paris, Milan, and New York. If they want to hew so close to the Vogue aesthetic, why don't they just launch Vogue Manila?

I'd rather see a local magazine draw from a local aesthetic and the local art scene and set the pace for the designers. Now all you see are these Balmain rip offs during fashion week. Shameful.

That tribute to McQueen issue is embarassing. Didn't Brian Leyva just pass away recently? Why not a tribute to him?

So long as the local fashion scene is subservient to the European aesthetic, there will never be growth or evolution.
