A road trip out West turned into the main inspiration for Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s pre-fall collection at Proenza Schouler, one that proved to be their most developed pre-collection so far. They reinterpreted classic Guatemalan and Peruvian ikat prints into a modern, edgy lineup, much of which included longer, leaner silhouettes. The designers worked with spiral cutting techniques, creating asymmetric panels that showed movement and ease, as well as tweeds cut on the bias for a reinventive take on the classic. The two also explored knitwear this season, developing their own yarns for chunky sweaters and robelike cardigans with oversize collars, as well as coats and even shorts.

OMG... The blazer with the black fur trim.
And ONLY Proenza Schouler can get away with such prints.

Most of the prints look amazing, especially those in the first post.

Fantastic Pre-Fall collection. Love the colors and prints, very reminiscent of their spring 2010 collection. The coats are great and the proportions are done so right.

The prints are amazing, as usual. I love how a lot of it looks thrown together. Slouchy chic!

All of the dresses are really beautiful! I love the combination of prints, I esp love the prints in the long trousers.

An interesting proposition for Fall (?) dressing with the shorts and lighter fabrics. As always, their prints look very fresh and modern; I love that ikat print. It works so well with their schoolgirl aesthetic.

Those three neon looks are also very dynamic; hopefully a sign of what is to come in their Winter collection!

I feel, looking at the outfits, like some of the print combinations shouldn't work but they just do! It all feels so effortless, great styling. The prints are great.

i love how some of these are like an evolution of their (probably sold out) scuba tie-dies from summer!
i just like the idea of the progression from one season to the next, and then how the themes evolves into the collection with all the other more 70ish and even ethnic prints.
the textures are also really good!! is that mohair i see? :)
and there's a couple of coats i love! the who that are zipped horizontally, both in black: one with tuxedo lapels and fur on the lower forepart, and the other one with the leather lapel!

the orange coat looks like out of jil sander's SS11 collection (Carine, was it you? :p )

not my favorite proenza collection (as spring/summer 2011 remains), but i'm simply besotted with their sense of color and their first inching into knitwear has me swooning. honestly, these two could make a paper rucksack look ineffably cool.

Dont like the prints but the cuts are amazing , it has futuristic yet 20s/30s vibe , im sure their fall collection will be stellar
