Opening Questions

1. What do you believe to be meant by the term fashion? How would you describe it?

Fashion is wearable art

2. How would you describe clothing in relation to fashion? Do you see one and two the same? Or are they different?

No, they're very different ... many people wear purely functional clothing--the fabric equivalent of a fig leaf. While some fashion influence does filter down, this is not fashion.

3. Fashion items are often associated with being worn seasonally; do you consider this of importance when going shopping?

Yes

4. Do you believe that fashions change? Does this influence how many times you go shopping?

Yes / No

5. How often do you go shopping? What factors influence you to go shopping?

I shop mainly for spring and fall over a period of months. I bought my first piece for this spring last year, and am finishing up my shopping now. Sometimes I do a small shop in the summer/winter if I find that there are gaps in my wardrobe, or I see something useful on sale.

6. Do you consider price an important factor when deciding on your chosen shopping destination?

Sometimes

7. Which shopping destinations do you feel offer the best price for your desired fashion products?

Nordstrom's offers a nice range

8. Would you consider shopping at a different shopping destination if they offered you the same product at a lower price?

Yes

9. Are men more fashionable than women? What reasons do you give for your decision?

Ha! No. Experience.

10. Do certain shopping outlets offer more masculine products than others? Which destinations to which do you refer?

Presumably yes ... Brooks Brothers would be a good place to find masculine ...

11. Do fashions icons or role models influence where you buy your fashion clothes? Why?

No, because I can and do think for myself

12. Do celebrities such as David Beckham influence your purchase intentions? Would you shop at stores if they offered a brand that endorsed his or another celebrities image?

No ... I might well avoid those stores

13. Do particular fashion brands affect where you go to shop? Which brands in particular?

Yes. Marc Jacobs, for example ...

14. Looking ahead to the future do you think that your chosen destination will dominate the student market? Or do you think students expectations will change?

No

15. Any further comments?
