it's that time of the year that everyone goes back and chooses the best of the year that was.. for 2005, the editors of wwd, choose the quotes that made a difference and gave the 'spirit' of the year in the fashion industry...
enjoy :flower:

"I'm tired of hearing that China is an opportunity."
Mario Boselli, Italian Chamber of Fashion, Jan. 18

"What I see is the end of bling ... fashion is a separate world. I think that fashion in the future will be like what opera is to music today. There will be a special interest group who keeps it alive and well and spends a lot of money, but it doesn't have anything to do with popular culture."
David Wolfe, Jan. 19

"Let's be real — I'm obviously not at the level of a John Galliano….But I do have a certain style and a certain image that people respond to."
Jennifer Lopez, on the launch of her Sweetface collection, Jan. 31

"Apparently the fashion people and the football people aren't talking."
Bryan Bradley, on the schedule conflict between the Super Bowl and New York Fashion Week, Feb. 5

"I've done more design for stationery than I have for clothing."
— Vera Wang, Feb. 8
... to be continued

"[Personal appearances are] not a good thing. You lose the kind of mystery if you show up too much. Personal appearances in the stores are very much the Seventies and Eighties. I don't see myself as a young, struggling designer. You have to be careful of overexposure. It can play against you."
Karl Lagerfeld, June 6

"I only hope they get rid of that neon thing in front of the parliament, which is an embarrassment to Paris. It's beyond horrible. I like Las Vegas — but not in Paris."
Karl Lagerfeld, referring to the gigantic Paris 2012 plastered on the National Assembly building, after London edged out Paris for the Olympics, July 7
