I don't like Chanel for it because she does not fit the aesthetic of ralph lauren. Stick her to Bennetton, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger: the little girl brands.
When I hear Ralph Lauren, I think of sophisticated, high class women. When I hear Chanel Iman, I think of a spoiled little teenager who think is Naomi Campbell.
NEVER really liked RL...NEVER cared for their ads. i do however, think the casting is decent, although i think i'll always have a distaste for valentina.
I hope they lay the ads out better for print...all the girls are in the middle, which mean's they'll be in the gutter (the center crease) of the magazine!
...Whoops.
Chanel doesn't fit his aesthetic at all. She is too young and annoying... she needs to grow up before she can wear these kinds of clothes and sell them effectively. If he needed a black girl to represent his collection, there are so many other better choices than Chanel.
Ugh no to Chanel. Valentina, as someone said, is to Ralph Lauren as Sasha is to Prada. They just fit. But I think Magdalena is to RL as Meghan Collinson is to Prada. Up & coming.. kind of the understudy.
I saw the first one on Vogue Italia March as well and that is Anastassia Khozissova, right? Good to see her still being a Ralph girl!
And I think the shots aren't actual runwayshots, but backstage shots arranged against a bluescreen or a whitescreen. Like that Steven Klein editorial and cover in the Vogue Italia Sept07 couture supplement....
