Ralph Lauren - The Campaign Archive

Scan through all these posted Ralph Lauren's adds. As noticed his chosen models used to be calm with little sexy eyes contact or sexy, but simple body language. All are very simple & natural.

For some reason I never remember that Penelope did his ads- quite a few, actually... My scans from Vogue Brazil 2002

Naomi Campbell & Tyson Beckford for RL Polo.
Sorry don't know the year.

(my own scan)

^ That is great! The time when Ralph was fending off diversity issues with 'See, we're not just a bunch of debutantes and Angelo rich guys!!'

^ I never really appreciated how Kim Nye became such a cornerstone of the ad campaigns- well, of course I do understand how, but for a model, she always seemed like of middle of the road, above average at best, when you compare her to some of the other girls (Val, Coltilde and so on...) Of course, she may have been immensely talented in other ways... :innocent:

^ Oh what could you mean:shifty:
I actually think she suited RL's aesthetic perfectly, but I think she is really only synonymous with his advertising. Ask anyone anything else she did and I reckon they would be stumped. I know I am.:D

^ True- and retired/got out of town when the whole thing blew up, so I guess there wasn't much of a career there anyway.... She was not well liked within the comapany, from what I heard...:(

^ Maybe that has something to do with the fact that she didn't do much work for other companies.

^ Yeah- she was too busy ripping around the Hamptons in classic Ferraris with the top down...wonder where she got those cars, huh?? :innocent:
