From a distance they look like repeats
but they are doing this marbled dyeing technique ..to make the mixing of colours all spontaneous; so I wonder if they use it for producing the whole collection or the print is turned into a screen print to make it easier to reproduce the design..

Not sure what is going on there but I found a brief article here explaining the
technique:

http://www.fibrecrafts.com/resource/fact_file/marbling/marbling.asp

and a search for "marbling on fabric" in a bookstore comes up with a few
interesting items.

I imagine the combing and raking motions could be automated so that
repeats are possible. Or special attention to the edges and a steady hand?

i just read , the marble prints are limited edition ^
i remember seeing it in online boutiques, but i forget how much they cost...

They are using an old technique made by a Swiss inventor.. layers of wax on metal cylinders which roll over the wetted fabric...
More info here

I have done the same technique in the link you posted, xirja :p on paper. in elementary school we used dish soap instead, to keep the paint from sinking to the bottom.. Maybe even science class we did it...

I'd really like to do something to my place, but I cannot drill holes to hang pictures. And I'm not sure about using sticky tack --I can't have it stain the wall. Any ideas for products, tape etc that is gentle on the walls? :)
