Resistance RT par Ramdane Touhami A/W 05/06

did u go to the Maria Luisa cocktail?
What do u think about the s/s 06 collection
Yes, I was there; I guess you were too. :) I think S/S is an improvement over A/W, but to be honest I'm still not entirely convinced. Ramdane's stuff definitely has a certain charm - and he's a pretty adorable person besides - but imo his clothes tend to be a bit long on eccentricity, and short on design. On the other hand, he's clearly still developing his talents; I'll be interested to see what he comes up with over the next few seasons.

Agree, I dun think he's in top notch, yet, but, he's better than a lot of shows i saw in Paris, (eg. Watanabe n Number 9). I personally don't like Jap design(er)s, 'n Resistance RT certainly isn't my personal cuppa. However, as u said, I do keep my eyes wide open for someone talented n unique.

sorry, I don't understand what you mean...

OK ....
What I mean is that quite a few small designer companies as well big are in difficulties at the moment due to economical reasons or due to lack of orders etc….
As well I’m hearing that quite a few upscale (any scale) production facilities in Paris are or are about to close down.

Craftsmanship facilities will be hard to find in Paris …. It will be a small town in Asia.. :(

Ramdane is developing his RT ..line along with his Japanese backer from Paris, but for the Japanese market obviously. No

As well he never pretended to be a clothing designer, which is novel.
Though sure he has some interesting ideas on a street style globalization kind-a-level. So let's see
Although I hope he will leave his stupid MC Hammer pants at home in his next collection.

Oh wow, interesting, I know him through friends; met him w/Jeremy Scott here in Tokyo. I didnt know he was so well-known! He's Iraqi and he told me he started this line as a resistance movement for Palestinian liberation. Wish him all the best. :p

Sounds like he gave you a very funny story ..... now the question is did you buy it? Oh la la …
I think someone already mentioned his background in this thread.
French/ Arabian ....

Famous ... well if you know about Paris street/ art/ fashion you would know about him through a gallery he had with a couple of friends. And actually I think that the last party they had before closing down was a J. Scott Party.

em...Iraqi is Arabian too...

And at the time he had made clothes featuring the Palestinians colors, patterns and motifs.

You are right that the recent ones are completely different.

I'm intrigued, anyway.
I agree, faust, those S/S 06 photos left something to be desired--but they also sparked some interest in me...
