Ok so I've noticed a few 20 something young ladies wearing a single black ribbon around their necks like a choker. Where did this trend come from? I like it but if it's a teenage thing I'm so not doing it...

Hmmm, I have yet to see that one... I would probably not do it (I am in my 20's).

I've been doing that quite a bit recently, there's been no particular reason why...I used to do it a while back too, I'm not sure if it's from anywhere in particular...but I'm sure there has always been 'bows around necks' here or there in fashion for quite a while. I prefer using black because it looks less 'cutesy' and I usually team it with mostly black clothes anyways...

There's a recent trend of Ribbon necklaces, too... from Elle.com..:

It's old, like Sean Connery...

I remember wearing/making them in the early-mid 90's. I couldnt affort them so I made them. Cute

This might be a bit off-topic..but Im wondering if anyone know where I can get this necklace that was often worn by Mischa..I have searched almost on every Chanel boutiques on this planet and they dont have it .. :(

I saw a spread in the September or October issue of Lucky with ribbon used as necklaces.

Thanks to everyone who has posted! I think I will wear this trend, I mean it is a reference to 60's fashion so it is almost classic.

I was about to say her...Wasnt her name...Jill Masterson? Not the best Bond girl name. I think a black velvet choker with like a bow and cameo in the center is soo sexy.

Oh it's definitly not a new trend, it's kind of 18th century, very Versailles...at least that's what I always associate the look with.

A thin ribbon with a tiny bow in the front off to one side very sexy in a coquetteish sort of way, or you could do a thicker ribbon with the bow in the back and it's more madame, more woman than girl.

I remember when ribbon and velvet ribbon chokers used to be popular in the early 90's.. God i'm getting old.
