I've just found an old Vogue-Paris article (from last year) about Rie's artwork, I don't feel like translating the whole thing so I'll make a resume of it .Apparently, she became a painter/photographer/director, her artwork revolves around her sexual experiences. She's writing the script of a feature film at the moment . She has directed two short films : 'Sélection Naturelle' which was selected for Cannes film festival and 'Il Vestito' that she wrote, directed and played in.
A few trivias about her and her life : She's addicted to coffee, her house doesn't have a kitchen , she paints with anything she finds when she's inspired from wine to pencil .She loves dressing up .She's a lesbian as someone mentionned . She was scouted by Ford during her first trip to New York when she was 15 . She became friends with director Wes Anderson (when he was still unknown)after she moved to New York. She totally loves Lauren Bacall, Katherine Hepburn, Howard Hawks, Frederico Fellini, John Huston , Orson Welles. She's been raised in a family where her stepmother, stepfather, father and mother were doctor, painter, economist and sexologist.
The article features some of her artwork and I must say she's quite gifted as a painter and she draws quite well. I quite liked it. I like the fact that she's confident about her sexuality and that erotic aspect of her personality sort of emanates of her artwork without being vulgar, or blunt .It sort of reveals how in love and inspired she is by women's bodies . But she seems a bit too self-centered (I would be if I were her).
She also played in Brian de Palma's 'Femme Fatale' and in 'Angel-A- by Luc Besson.
Here she is at the premiere of 'Angel-A'.
She looks a lot like Milla Jovovich there .Actually Luc Besson is getting more and more boring with his obsession with blue-eyed tall brunette but nevermind.I really like her with that haircut.
I'm sorry I can't use my father's scanner so I can't post pictures of her artwork.
