RIP Giorgio Armani (1934-2025)

If there’s one designer that always feels like home, like comfort, like warmth, like family— it’s Giorgio Armani for me.

I grew up with Armani. I still wear Armani that I’ve acquired from the 90s/ 2010s: A great, cocooning shearling coat that’s developed a rich patina from years and years of wear; sweatshirts/hoodies/sweatpants cut from the thickest, most plush, lush cotton/wool that still drape like his signature suits; the softest, lightest perforated leather jacket for summer. All everyday, nonfussy essentials that never look nor feel fashiony, precious and never dated, despite that some are from decades ago. Armani is timeless. And I’d imagine I will continue to wear his designs until the end of my days.

We are so blessed to have this icon dress us.

(Love to hear from others of their own Armani favs that have lived alongside you for years and years.)

He was the last man standing still carrying the old soul of a true designer, of a couturier. Unwavering commitment to elegance, to class, to standards. To make his women and men look and feel their absolute best. The way he conducted himself throughout the years, and how well he built the company, should be the blueprint and inspiration for everyone in the industry. He will be dearly missed, and his legacy will stand tall and live on.

Riposa in pace Signor Armani.

A real force of fashion and absolute legend until the very end.

He built an empire out of a brand that has always been true to itself, perceived as relevant to so many on every segment of the market. From the kid in the streets, to the businessman, to the haute couture cliente. What an achievement. Armani will resonate forever.

His influence and legacy in menswear is what I will always be grateful to him for.

Bravo and grazie, Sig. Armani.

How will group continue? Some outlets are already speaking of such. How business will continue. Who will take charge of multi-brand emperor?

i've been just thinking about it the other day. i've always despised the cheap subbrands of his empire but his legacy is forever. so i hope the ship stays afloat.

There will be no succession turmoil, the Armani group is incredibly well structured, and over the last few years with him approaching his 90s they definitely had everything set up for this moment. Surely Silvana will take over womenswear and Leo Dell'Orco on menswear where they were already heads. I don’t see the family bringing an outside designer anytime soon. They’ll keep it in-house.
