The black ones look like "leg sandals."

But I didn't think these had been gone long enough to be making a comeback.

maybe its just a uk thing perhaps :flower: they are everywere .. but feel free to delete this post if you dont think its global enough

they're more "rip" than "jean." it looks like the washer ate them. this is not a trend to be revived.

wasnt a big fan of the look, but i am intrigued by the way margiela showcased it. a contrast between something very polished and sharp and something very distroyed and ripped.
i 'strip ripped' a pair of old black skinny jeans today and i quite like the result. i didnt rip them in a way that showed alot of skin but it was basically horizontally and almost evenly ripped all across the front of the jeans up to the pocket area. i ripped some areas on the backside of the jeans but wasnt sure if that was a good move. if i dont like it, can always sew the rips back together.
im probably gonna wear these jeans with something really clean and polished on top like a button down shirt with blazer or something.

i love ripped jeans with my life, but that maison martin margiela denim is, in my opinion, pretty atrocious.

To be honest, I never really understood ripped jeans. It's probably part of rock culture or even '80s pop (most of you know my personal opinions on '80s fanaticism). I haven't seen any ripped jeans I really liked. I almost feel this way about ripped jeans as I do with leggings under skirts. I'm okay with frayed denim, but not wearing jeans that look like a tiger slashed through your favorite pair of jeans. I think most ripped jeans usually tie in with rock culture or '80s pop culture. Much like someone equates bad trends as Bohemian (I hate using "boho"), I equate some bad trends as either rock culture or '80s pop. And as someone said in an earlier post, more "rip" than "jeans."

This is hilarious to me because i've actually been looking for a pair of slightly ripped light wash jeans and some loose shorts as well for awhile now. Though not as intensely ripped as the first few pictures.

when denim is washed, it's usually to emulate the distressing that it would go thru if it was a plain indigo denim worn for months/years. rip jeans are of course over exaggerations of this (most raw denim just gets some nice whiskers/honeycombs + lap fades. unless you're bull fighting, holes like these don't happen :x) ripped solid indigo jeans don't make sense, but washed ripped jeans do.

on-topic, i've seen a lot of new ripped jeans come out this year. diesel (viker 8rd, for example) has done some pretty disgusting things, they almost look like d&g jeans. :\ it's too much

These rips are yucky. More for females because it concentrates of showing off the legs.

But since we're on this topic, does anyone know where a homme can find a good set of ripped jeans in Toronto? More rips near thighs, vertical rips are more like it.

I dug out a pair of my high school jeans the other day that work well for this trend...because they are so ripped they are almost falling apart.

so glad those are not a strong trend over here,
i hope they never will..
it's far too soon to recycle faded rips already

i like the topshop ones but the other ones in post #1 are too extreme.

personally, i've got one pair of ripped jeans which i destroyed myself and i really like them, but unfortunately i don't fit in them at the moment. :-(
