I’m so lost when they use ryan for these things or why he agrees? The results are always terrible and you would think he’s pretty settled financially from his art sales to not need editorial work. He isn’t this type of photographer and should be ok with that. This is either ego or a bad agent or both.
They've gone back to those late 90s-themed covers, where most magazines actually had a sense of identity. I imagine all Brad Pitt's square-minded fans must've felt the same annoyance back in 1999 when Mark Seliger shot him in a dress for the cover and accompanying editorial lol.
Back to this cover, the green border and Paul standing in what looks to be a marshland is an obvious nod to his Irish roots. I don't mind him looking this vile. There will always be the likes of Icon Italia who will do him justice.
Seeing Paul with his arms up and pits out is something I don’t mind at all. But it’s all too muddy. And the lighting is too harsh. Especially in combination with his dark hairdo. It makes him look too pale.
This is something that the GQ guy would have done on acid. I love the idea of Paul having a cover, but this new trend to make hot guys look dirty or unnatractive drives me crazy in a bad way. I don't know, imagine if they put him like Sabrina Carpenter months ago... I liked a lot what they done with Michael B. Jordan, but then back to basics 😒
