Romee Strijd

The fitness secrets of Romee Strijd: on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the casting process and her workout.

“Everyone in the industry knows that VS starts casting for the show at the end of October. I've had that date in the back of my mind for a long time so in the weeks before I started to work out a lot. I went on a 4 day boxing camp in Tulum, Mexico with my trainer Michael Olajide. All the girls who were at the camp were there to prep for the VSFS casting. On the actual day of casting there were so many beautiful girls who worked just as hard as me, so I didn't really know what my chances were.”

“This was my first VSFS casting. There are 2 rounds, in the first round they see around a 100 to 150 girls and you just meet with the casting director. In the second round you also meet the people from Victoria's Secret. At that time there are about 50 girls left. You have to walk in your underwear and they take your picture: it's only a few minutes! And it's those minutes that you have been working for for all those weeks. I didn't know how to feel about the second casting either, you only get so say 'hi' and 'bye'.”

The next day I got a text from my agent: “congratulations”. I thought 'huh, what is he talking about'? When I called him he told me that I was confirmed for the VSFS. I was so incredible happy and freaking out. My boyfriend happened to be in New York at the time so it was really nice to share this moment with him, he was so proud.

In the VSFS there is the Pink segment, which shows the younger line of Victoria's Secret, and the main show. I'm part of the main show, which is a huge honor. I'm only 19 so I expected to be in the Pink segment. I have one outfit during the Dream Girls segment. I hope that Taylor Swift will perform 'Shake it off', I love the energy in that song.

It would be amazing to become an Angel one day, but you are expected to always be bikiniready which isn't easy for me. I takes a lot for me to get and stay in shape. I have to work out every day and watch my diet. If I would get the opportunity I would obviously take it, but it wouldn't be easy.

My workout routine are mainly workouts with Michael Olajide: boxing, jumproping and excercises with elastic bands. I also take Ballet Beautiful classes to stretch my muscles. When I'm working abroad I use the hotel gym, but that gets boring quickly. I prefer to workout with a friend. In the gym I go on the treadmill for half an hour, jumprope for 15 mins and do some other exercises.

When I go out I notice that I'm less motivated to workout. You have to stay in a daily rhythm en get enough sleep. Usually I work out an hour a day but in preparation for the show I'm working out 2 hours a day. And I try to walk everywhere, but with the freezing weather in New York that's a bit tough sometimes!

I'm glad that Maud Welzen is also doing the show. Together we look for fun places to eat healthy or we cook dinner together. It's important to me to do fun things with friends and not isolate myself and only think about working out and eating right. I really have to watch what I eat: I don't eat carbs right now, so no pasta and rice, but I do eat a lot of vegetables, fish and fruit and seeds. Kind of the standard model diet. After the show I'll probably add spelt bread back into my diet, it's no fun always being so healthy! I'm allergic to chocolate so that makes it a bit easier for me. I'm slowly getting used to this diet but I still find it quite difficult sometimes. I love bread and pasta so I'd rather work out a bit more so I can still eat that. After the show in London I'm going back to Holland and buy Pepernoten (a Dutch seasonal treat) right away!

Victoria's Secret model Romee Strijd dives for the cookies after hitting the runway

The VS models went to extreme lengths to get into shape ahead of the biggest show of the year, and now it’s all over

Dutch beauty Romee Striid has been spotted reaching for cookies and other goodies just a day after*walking the runway in the Victoria’s Secret show.

The blonde beauty covered up in the chilly London weather in a pair of black skinny jeans, thick jacket and black felt hat, looking very chic but it wasn’t her style she was concentrating on – it was the cookie shelf.

The blonde model, who appeared twice on the runway in yesterday's shows, headed to Sainsbury’s where she stocked up on some oatmeal and raisin cookies before shipping out of town.

Each cookie is around 231 calories. We wonder if she scoffed the lot?

The leggy beauty was one of 40 models to walk the runway in last night’s epic fashion extravaganza.

Ahead of the show, the models had been ramping up their exercise and watching their diets to make sure they were in tip-top shape with many of them posting their activities on Instagram.

Adriana Lima,*who wore a $2 million Fantasy Bra alongside Alessandra Ambrosio,*told ELLE before the show: “Because it is a lingerie show and aired in 180 countries in high definition, you need to look your best.”

While Elsa Hosk said: “I have been doing a lot of working out. Two workouts a day! I have boxing in the morning and then a barre class at night so I have been trying to mix high speed cardio with strengthening, lengthening, and toning."

Candice Swanepoel previously told OK! magazine that she has great genes and is blessed with a high metabolism.

“Food-wise, I'm very, very lucky that I can eat whatever I want. For me, I've always had a healthy lifestyle.

“If I eat something that's not fresh, I feel it immediately, so I crave good food. I crave meat. I grew up on a dairy and beef farm, so I crave that. I don't cut anything out, and I just work out more.”

Looks like Romee is making up for missing out!

Romee Strijd treats herself to cookies the morning after strutting her stuff in skimpy lingerie at the Victoria's Secret show

She didn't have an inch to pinch when she walked the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion show at London's Earls Court on Tuesday night.*

But model, Romee Strijd isn't about to deprive herself of a celebratory treat the morning after such an epic night.*

Heading to a supermarket in London on Wednesday morning, the 19-year-old Dutch model was pictured picking up a bag of cookies and two multipacks of chewing gum.

Wearing leather leggings and black suede over-the-knee boots, there was no mistaking the pretty lady as she walked down the street, despite covering up with a wintry black felt hat.*

The night before, she turned heads in a white skimpy lace underwear set which she wore with a sheer dressing gown.

With her hair worn in tousled curls, she tottered around on pom-pom slippers, as pop singer Taylor Swift took to the stage to perform her hit songs.*

It was the model's first time performing in the show. *

Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Behati Prinsloo and Alessandra Ambrosio were just some of the other names who took to the runway.*

There was a star-studded crowd with The Saturdays, Abbey Clancy, Millie Mackintosh and Liam Payne all viewing the annual show.*

Most notable were the two Fantasy Bras worn by Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima which are worth $2million each.*

Cosmopolitan write that Romee works out every day, sometimes multiple times per day in order to keep her slim physique.*

The publication says: 'She does up to three sessions per week with Mary Helen Bowers, a former New York City Ballet ballerina and creator of Ballet Beautiful.*

Meet the 10 Models Who Walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for the First Time

Nationality: Dutch
How she got cast: "My agency told me I had a request to come to the casting, so I went — after working out, of course! There were 300 girls doing the first casting, so I was like, 'OK, that's a little chance.' We were all waiting with the girls in lingerie before we walked. When I heard I got confirmed, it was pretty amazing. I stopped working for a year to finish school, so now I am coming back to model full-time."
Angel she most admires:"All of the Angels! I don't have a favorite."
Fun fact: "I really like cooking -- healthy muffins and banana bread, things like that."
