I used to read lots of French magazines like ' Paris Match ' , so I must have read a short biography of him . He was the protegee of some big underworld boss , before he was spotted for films .

Did he continue w/ these activities after he became a star, I wonder?

I don't think so , but I also remember that his wife - Nathalie - mother of Anthony Delon , was no angel and had just as many skeletons in the cupboard as Alain .

Anna Karina, thanks for your 'Romy-link'! I've boolmarket it immediately. I'm a great fan of Romy! And always has been.
I have seen almost all her films.
There are great [photo] books and autobiography's of her around.

Yes Alain Delon is a bloody bastard. When he left her [Romy] for his later wife Nathalie he let her know that by leaving a bundle of roses in their appartment with a note with only the message that he left her for Nathalie. She was devastated. He's besides a criminal a coward as well.

How strange, this is the second time I do visit the Fashion Spot and yesterday I found another woman as an icon here who I do admire a lot: Patti Smith. Anna Karina we seemed to have the same taste! Because it was you to if my memory serves me well?
