Sorry I've been a bit busy these past few days and haven't had time to sit down properly and judge.

Thanks for the entries I love all the variations!

Ok so...

Scarlettlover
I love the character in the face and that the only hint of colour is on the cheeks, really lovely I think you captured the sleeves in particular very well!

Pinksofa
I love this illustration, again the face is just fantastic, I also like how you've added a variation of textures into the illustration with the use of different media.

Lovely illustration, I think you've really captured the feeling of all the angles and dimension within the garment.

Ronchamp
Beautiful illustration, I think she looks like some sort of fashion warrior! I love the quality of the line you've created it's stunning.

So the winner is...

*Ronchamp!*

Thanks again everyone for the entries, it's been a pleasure!

Thank you fab_fifties_fille for the review! And thanks to everyone for the congrats

Couture week just started, so the new challenge iiiiiiiis: Jean-Paul Gaultier HC, from spring 2009!
HQ:

I really want everyone interpret it as they feel it. The picture should serve merely as an inspiration. It helps guide you through your process, but it's not necessarily what you should aspire your end product to be. Go with your gut feeling!! Don't be afraid to zoom in, crop it, cut it, modify it, go abstract or hyper-realist, try a different style, be conceptual, be as detailed or as minimalist as you wish... don't hold back! I know I'm sounding very obvious and cheesy-motivational-speaker-art-teacher-person here, but basically I just want everyone to go crazy this time around... or not! It's up to you :p The important part is to keep the essence of the dress present.

Tentative deadline is July 24, 2009.
Have fun, and good luck to everyone! Looking forward to seeing your entries

I tried to do it in art noveau style, because I'm obsessing over art noveau right now. It's only a portrait though, didn't feel like doing the full body.

Sure, ~Fixation~. The new deadline will be this Sunday, July 26. So there's still time for anyone who's thinking about joining this round! It'd be great to see more entries!

Here goes the review....

, amazing detailing!! I love the subtleties in your drawing: the push and folds in the mesh, the hair, the moles on her chest... Somehow, I think it would have been less eye-catching in colour, so I'm glad you did it black and white! The way you drew her hair is certainly Art Nouveau, noodle-like indeed!

from: sophia, there's an elegance and a lightness to your drawing that is so very charming! You conveyed so much poise in her face, neck, and arms with just a few thin lines, it's lovely. I like how the fuzziness of watercolour is emulating the print of the dress, great use of your medium!

VogueParisLover, my initial thought: your model looks like a self-absorbed, snotty, rich b*tch... and I love it! Hahaha! To me, she's all "why yes, of course i can afford couture... how do you like my dress? Please, no more pictures!" Love her face, very expressive! Love the way you drew the feathers and the lace too!

SandraJH, I agree with lepip: crazy good rendering of the fabric! We can feel the movement in your dress. The superimposition of the fabrics is also superb! You really get a sense that it's two distinct layers from your drawing. Was the lace part done with pens or markers?

~Fixation~, what a fab figure! The curve at the knees, the way it bends in, makes me swoon , so sexy! The lines and colour strokes in your illustration look erratic and spontaneous, yet very controlled at the same time. The woman in your dress (although she's not actually there! :p) seems confident, bold and fearless!

I really enjoyed looking at all your illustrations! Thank you for participating! It was a truly tough decision, but in the end...........

The winner....

IS................

~Fixation~!!!
Congrats, can't wait to see what you pick next!!
