Fashion Season is speedily approaching....:woot:

which shows are you most looking forward to seeing this season?...
any special reason why?...

:flower:

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Chanel, Anna Sui, and Chloe mostly... Just because I'm always interested in what they'll do!

New York: Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui (especialy after her last spring show )...actualy it's quite funny..i was on ebay the other day and they are auctioning 2 tickets to the Marc Jacobs Spring 2007 show. The tickets come with a Marc Jacobs bag. I thought it was fake at first, but then i saw that it was actualy a charity auction..the money goes to an organization....i so want to go...but the starting bid? $5000

Milan: Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Roberto Cavalli and Versace

Paris: Christian Dior, Chanel, Alexander Mcqueen, Louis Vuitton, Stella Mccartney

Catherine (sp?) Malandrino, Rodarte, Giles Deacon, Alberta Ferretti, Gianfranco Ferre, Fendi, Versace, Balenciaga, YSL Rive Gauche, Hermes, Givenchy, Viktor & Rolf

Hussien Chalayan, McQueen JPG, (damn- no rochas this season) Gianfranco Ferre and my own show of course

New York
Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Zac Posen
Milan
Bottega Veneta, Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Marni, Prada,Versace
Paris
Balenciaga, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Givenchy, Hermés, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Viktor & Rolf, Yves Saint Laurent

That's about it. (And yes, those are all only the 'big' names, but that's pretty much all I care about in womenswear.) And notice the lack of New York designers?

i know...=(

well, i don't think i'll get REALLY excited untill paris fashion week!
once it comes i am looking forward to so many! that's why i'd have major trouble making a personal 'top 5' at the end of each season.

but in general...
i'm very interested to see:

YSL
Lanvin
Ann Demeulemeester
Yohji Yamamoto
Junya Watanabe
Rick Owens
Alexander McQueen
Balenciaga
ETC..:woot:

all the names i've mentioned are so big. i should mention Alena Akhmadullina, my recently-discovered designer.

So many.

Marc Jacobs, Prada, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Cavalli, Anna Molinari, McQueen, Lanvin, Vuitton, Dior, Galliano, Demeulemeester, Balenciaga, Chanel, YSL, Givenchy, Gaultier, Miu Miu

Wow, that's a lot. Most are shows I look forward to every season, some are newer interests and Cavalli impressed me with his fall collection, but I have a feeling it was a passing thing and he'll go back to flash and skin come October.

McQueen, Gaultier, Vionnet, Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Balenciaga, YSL, Givenchy

^ I'm actually also looking forward to Vionnet, I wonder what Sophia will make of it!

So many shows...

New York:
Calvin Klein, Costa has been on a great streak with his latest resort collection included. I'm excited to see what he'll do this time around.

Marc Jacobs, I was never a long term fan but A/W 05, S/S 06, A/W 06, and the latest resort have been amazing for me. I hope he can keep up the momentum

Proenza Schouler, a friend just interned for them and I want to see the dress she had to hand bead. lol

Milan:
Jil Sander, I'll always be interested in what Raf does, and it's the sophomore collections that are most telling. I wasn't a fan with the resort collection so I hope he can manage to put out something more impressive.

Paris:
Lanvin, I have fallen in love with Elbaz's recent work, this is my most anticipated show of the season. I appreciate his humor more than anything else.

YSL, Pilati is doing a great job and I expect more great clothes.

Balenciaga, after last seasons literal references I want to see what he learned from the archives and what he is going to do to steer clear of them.

CDG, you can always expect a certain kind of show from Rei but her collections are always filled with clever ideas. I may not like what I see but I'll be glad I saw it.

London:
Marios Schwab, He's really onto something but his fall collection but was very mediocre. I hope he can get back into his groove

Christopher Kane, I want to see if he lives up to his hype (which although I like his work so far, I'm not so sure he deserves all the attention)

I can tell you who I like but am not all that anxious for:

Givenchy: I expect some pencil skirts, models with parted hair, and a cheesy goth/future vibe that is contrived from his couture show and whose strengths rely on the conventions he's worked to death in all of his collections for the label. I hope Tisci proves me wrong but I won't be holding my breath.

Junya Watanbe- no reconstructed army/navy/punk whatever stuff PLEASE.

Rick Owens- The clothes are great but sometimes it feels as though he makes the same collection over every season just in new colors and slightly different details. Is he capable of doing something else? I believe in not messing with a good thing but god, talk about ennui.

Chanel: Karl's shows have become as redundant as his personal accessory choices.

Chloe: This is a toss up, I'm aggravated that the team has let themselves fall into a groove but at the same time I'm willing to see how settled they will get or if they will burst into a new direction.

labels I could give two sh*ts about:
Dior
Galliano
Gaultier
Valentino
the usual

but to be honest I enjoy every new show presented (except the ones listed directly above, I could really go without viewing them...ever)

Rochas would have been my most anticipated show, what a shame they didn't have a proper "byebye" show... that's not even a proper ending :/

still, there are some people that I am excited about seeing or taking their aesthetic further - mainly those that I am working with but some others, too that I am having an eye on:

Jens Laugesen will probably show in Paris this time, after having won a 50000 € sponsorship (see Diane Pernet's blog for detailed news) ... I was really happy for him as he could definitely use the money to grow his business, and as he was following a good direction lately (less painfully conceptual, more wearable), his star might just be about to shine brighter. Best of look for a good new start!

Hamish Morrow will be having a comeback again, after having restructured his business and having found new support for his high-end signature label.

Bruno Pieters' menswear is what I am looking forward for even above the women's, I would love to see him devloping further than the 50ies couture references that he had been following lately... I hope his won't be a too sugar-y collection.

Nicolas Andreas Taralis as usual, I like how he stays consistant with his aesthetics and how he slowly finds his own voice after Dior Homme with every further collection that he presents. Dare I say, I expect not a single skirt or dress in this show... but that will probably a refreshing sight after floaty feminity everywhere else.

Madeleine Vionnet will be the hottest ticket, I am hoping to get a ticket for this first ever presentation, I'd love to be there from the start!! Maybe it'll be able to replace Rochas a little bit, but I am not exactly sure about that - unless Sophia is doing equally well with tailleur as she does with drapery.

Apart from that:

Balenciaga
Yohji Yamamoto
Givenchy
Sophia Kokosalaki
Aquascutum
Gareth Pugh
Christopher Kane

New York

Naum, Rodarte, Boudicca, Catherine Malandrino, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen

London

Gilles Deacon and Preen.

Milan

Marni, Gucci, Prada, Antonio Marras and Versace.

Paris

Rick Owens, YSL, Balenciaga, Ann Demeulmeester, Bruno Pieters, Hussein Chalayan, Givenchy, Vionnet, Chloe, Lanvin, McQueen, Sophia Kokosalaki and Dior.

Aren't the S/S 2007 collections still at least a full month away from showing ... ? They show in September, don't they? Maybe they just loom in the horizon, not really approaching haha

Anyway, the shows I really want to see are as follows:

Paris

Christian Dior: I can't wait to see what Galliano's going to turn his latest couture collection into. I hope it's romantic and classy, much like a few pieces (yes, I emphasise on "a few") in the F/W couture collection was like.

Alexander McQueen: After such an amazing F/W 2006 collection, I hope he doesn't disappoint us again. Hope he revives the wicked wit and the amazing but not overwhelming theatrics that was so signature of his earlier collections in the 2000s (S/S 2001 was amazing - the collection that featured a nude woman at the end on a breathing tube in a box filled with moths - it was full of wicked English wit and the theatrics were both creepy and fascinating at the same time).

Jean-Paul Gaultier: F/W 06 was full of his own morbid taste. I want more of it.

Milan

Dolce&Gabbana: Their last collection was way better than their other collections had been. I hope their Spring/Summer 2007 collection won't disappoint either. I want more of the Italian / Sicilian romance and beauty they used to be so fond of (back in the deep dark eons of time)!

Roberto Cavalli: The F/W 06 collection was beautiful! The combination of eastern and western features made it even more stunning. I hope Cavalli comes up with something breathtakingly luxurious. I know he can. Even without fur (faux or otherwise).

New York

Marc Jacobs: I. Love. Grunge. End of story.

i'm looking forward to chloé, balenciaga and sophia kokosalaki. i want to see if olivier theyskens is going to desing anything. generally i'm just eager to see any show!
