Sabato De Sarno - Designer

If they fired him I guess it is because they already have a new CD, right?

MGC sound like the most logical option to me.

He will be remembered for a color…No, rather for a word: ANCORA!
To think that they redesigned the stores and all. My god! Going for another change.

It’s insane. I’m sure he had a 3 years contract. So the numbers must be worst than expected and they had to make a decision before the Assemblée Générale.
He wasn’t expensive in the first place so they probably paid extra cash to get rid of him.

They should give the job to Pierpaolo if he hasn’t signed with Fendi yet.

Ancora could land at Ferragamo and be as boring as he want.
Bring baaack Friiiiiiiiiiida!!!
She was fired, her and her husband. She is not coming back with Pinault.
We should exclude some names regarding KERING brands:
- Frida Giannini
- Stefano Pilati
- Nicolas Ghesquiere
- Hedi Slimane.

At this point Gucci is lost. I don’t know in which direction they want to go. Sexy they try with Ford, glamour they tried with Frida, boho with Michele and simple with Sarno. Gurl what’s next. Name that I would like to see there is JW Anderson. He would git better in Gucci than in Dior or Tisci. Ig the Arabs don’t buy Versace I could see Tisci here.

Tbh they were quite slow taking the decision. I guess they wanted to wait till the 3 years were over, but it made no sense to keep waiting and see the ship shrinking more and more. I know sometimes it takes time for the customers to adapt and embrace the new style, but it was clear it was not gonna happen with Sabato. They went from bad to worse. No clear image, very bland shows… it was obvious.

I wish I could talk more openly here, but dear lord, they are clueless.

FYI
Kering annual results are in next Tuesday, the 11th, and stock price is in the red after the announcement.
Could not have happened to nicer people !

Edit ; I think with the announcement today, they wanted to avoid embarrassing questions next weeks.

I put the blame on F Bellettini, she is the one scouting the « talents «

I can only see Hedi accepting the job as a revenge to Chanel and Bruno. Tbh I think they have more chances to succeed with Hedi than with MGC.

But him going to Kering seems unlikely… They would need to pay him like 40M I guess.

I don’t see Hedi at all. Gucci would enter “The Rock Era” and it’s not that type of brand.

This, I would have kicked him out immediately after his first show.
6 months of preparation and you come up with a glorified version of Zara with Rosso Ancora Jackies? It was clear from the beginning that his vision was not strong enough for a frontrunner brand like Gucci.
At the end his only success were the Signoria pumps.

Stop with the Hedi speculations!
Gucci beauty is under Coty license and Hedi is a control freak who wants to have full creative direction of the brand (from RTW to beauty to furniture), there is no way he would accept to manage only the fashion part of the brand.
Also he got beef with Pinault and the top management after the YSL drama.

I think Gucci is one of those brands that can be whatever because doesn’t have a particular style… it’s like Vuitton in a way.

If they want fast growth in bags and RTW it needs to be either MGC or Hedi. There are no more options. Maybe Tisci as a very weird plan C.

PPP and all the other names will be a superflop. PPP was actually never successful at Valentino, a RTW brand, so imagine him at Gucci. He didn’t create a single accessory, all came from the MGC period.

Damn… I mean we all knew this was just a matter of time, but I thought they would at least wait for his contract to end, if anything just to save some face. Those numbers must’ve been BLEAK.

This a flop that is going to the history books, I almost feel bad for him. But hopefully serves as a lesson to the companies to stop playing safe and and hire people who actually have a strong vision and point of view, and not the inoffensive guy who will pump up merchandise.

I have friends of mine who bought Gucci stocks prior to Sabato announcement and they have been crying for 2 years and a half on how much the stock value has decreased...they're gonna keep crying I guess LOL

Hmm, he had drama with Bernard as well and he came back.

And I don’t think the Coty deal is that important though… Edit: I am sure he would have said yes to the Chanel thing even if he didn’t have any control on the beauty. If Kering is ready to pay 40M, I think he will accept tbh.

Also, he ended in not the best terms at Céline, so…
