Sabato De Sarno - Designer

18 million for 2 years of snooze fest and millions lost (already) in sales.
Its a win-win for Sabato! Go Sabato gooooo.

To fire him 3 weeks before the show is quite ruthless…
This had to be some really big mess… Also heard a story that he realized they were gonna fire him right after the show, so he beat them to it. Guess he wont get the severance money if he did that. But guess he too proud…
I feel bad for the guy - they made a bad decision to hire him for such high position. It was their bad

i didn't understood, he knew he was going to be fired after the show, so in what way he beat them up....he resigned? but it doesn't make sense if he was in nyc doing the castings...why bother???

He looks happy….

That’s the husband?…

Im sure he feel free and rich with 18 millions hahahaha…so that money is not only for him going out but also i guess to step out for the fw25 collection because it is not possible for the team to redo everything all over…maybe some adjustment and also a new styling…

If he was in nyc doing model castings he was not aware….

I’m wondering if he is gonna sue Kering for wrong termination….
it is possible to launch a collection in a week yes it is...... alessandro famously did his first show in one week men's show ..prada used to be famous for doing miu in two weeks in paris like its normal etc etc

you have blocks of things around already ofcourse and you adjust and combine and select and launch more items ..thats why show samples can be crappy :-)

wrong termination… lol!!!!!!!! its all build in the contract and he is paid out it's not abnormal ...its a job not a birthright

he was joking around office for months about he will be fired knowing or not knowing when ...people get fired everyday it's a learning moment as they say :-)

Yup that i know...so design team are shaking what ancora did for fw25 to cantino approve it?...

So what we'll see is Cantino's vision plus styling embellishment.....scary thing....lol

On another note, do you guys have some figures or articles about the total revenue of the brand? I read in another thread that Gucci’s turnover this year is similar to 2008’s, 😳 is that true?

VV is someone who I feel like could write a good book about her life in fashion and with Karl at Chanel. BUT the most interesting people in this industry never write books. 😔
I know right? I feel like I need some gossip from her, but she’s so discreet. 😭 Then we have Sabato that can’t stop talking bullsh!t that no one ever cared about.

Life is so unfair

The revenues are back to roughly 2017 figures, so not as tragic as everyone is making them out to be.

FINANCIAL TIMES

Since De Sarno joined the company in early 2023, brand revenues dropped 6% that year, after reaching a historic high of $10.9 billion in 2022. Then in 2024, once customers got a taste of De Sarno’s fashion, the bottom fell out.

Gucci revenues were off 25% on a comparable basis in third quarter and through the first nine months, revenues are down 21% to $5.9 billion from $7.6 billion same period last year.

Gucci, part of the Kering luxury group, will report full- year results next Tuesday, Feb. 11, and it won’t be good, since Gucci accounts for 45% of Kering’s year-to-date $13.3 billion in revenues.

I am going to guess these figures are not worse because of the carryovers in shoes and bags - marmont for example, and the sling backs and sneakers. i cant imagine anyone buying ancora things in this climate

The drop in sales was a mixture of a) the economy at the moment, b) the lack of strong and discernible vision, and c) the aggressive increase in prices.

Case in Point:

GUCCI

Even Valentino does not have those kind of price points (for equivalent designs and fabrics) :
