Sabato De Sarno - Designer

He will be fine at brands like loro piana/agnona. Even cos or other high street brands would be happy to have hum

Do you guys actually think Sabato can find another high profile job after this… experience?
Actually - all joking and trolling aside - I hope he finds a brand where he can prosper.
Lately Ive been thinking that maybe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time with wrong people. For example, DL had this situation but vice versa. Maybe Sabato can flourish elsewhere and bring a brand to the top with his storytelling work
I think he could be good in a exclusively menswear only brand? Like Canali or Zegna? ( Wondering if / when Sartori will ever leave? lol) or in a smaller conglomerate such as OTB ( Jil Sander, Marni).. just thinking out loud i guess.

I'm not sure he can go to menswear driven brand. His menswear was very.... specific. In my opinion, it was for... no one. Can not see the client. Maybe some imaginary one, but not the real person who has somwhere to go. For a more classic womenswear brand of a lower price point without a fashion ambition he can make it work. Maybe MaxMara?

Good point. But I mean because of his background and without mammoth pressure maybe it will get better lol! i also hope he doesnt start his own brand - we have enough of those!

Well, he now can add Gucci's creative direction to his resume...that's not something anyone can add, he's not banned from the circle...and honestly, if Vanetti guy is still able to find another job after the Gucci management catastrophe, anyone can.
Sabato's tenure shows that he has a very basic and bland point of view, there is no way he will creatively / artistically lead another fashion brand. He will probably end up being hired as a design / couture director...Peter Copping left Balenciaga Couture design direction for Lanvin...maybe Sabato can ask Cantino to show some mercy and give him phone numbers of Cedric Charbit, Demna and the new Balenciaga CEO...LOL
I can totally see him ending his career as the right hand of a more skilled / renown designer: he was already PPP's right hand after all.

yeah true at valentino he was not known for succes with the VLTN line and menswear period under him was the worst ...no my words but people there.

Bizzari saw a cookie cutter idea of what gucci board wanted in him because he sold the project with lots of images and ideas of modern and sleek and sexy yet the outcome was what we saw.

that's the shortcoming with these pinterest mood board designers... they can sell you a dream but the interpretation or final product is something else often less that the 300 pictures with the ocicianal Phoebe or Gucci TF heyday etc thrown in to give the illusion of same level of work to come out in the end.

Basically a scam for Ancora get an upgraded CV and good money...

Tbh, how I felt it was: they wanted to recapture the success of Dior. MG was from Valentino. They were looking for someone from Valentino to repeat that success and formula. PP was not available, so they went for number 2…

well its more that Ceo´s are cheap i really say this in most honest way not to be funny ...often they don't know wtf they looking at or for .....but follow advices from anyone like a daughter or son even (no joke)

so this guy thought he will get the next valentino vibe for cheap and make the next chapter happen as he was lucky & overly confident already with first beth on AM so why not again with unknown Ancora boy.

i will retire from ancora tread its like giving Plein head space every day of the week for no reason lol

I only can see Sabato in one place...

I feel so bad for Ancora. He seems like a nice person to have as a friend and hang with, has fun sassy playlist that we can dance to at a party. Weren't they going with this narrative at the beginning? The documentary seems to be building him up to be this approachable fun creative director the team is happy and Gucci is a fun place to work at.

I don't think he will get anything big after this tho.

Seriously. Can this thread be locked. Why do we need to have so many pages discussing him now? Let him fade into oblivion. PLEASE.
Well, his designs are still sitting in shops and allegedly, his Spring/Summer 2025 Menswear have been produced, and are on their way to be launched in stores. (Think men’s short shorts, ballet flats, and the pastel lunch bag looking leather goods )

So unless he changes careers to DoorDash and no longer a designer or something, his products will be talked about until probably the new creative director’s first show, though given the current news of him that he was most likely dismissed, ridiculed. My heart goes to the Gucci stores that have to promote those with their jobs at stake.

I'm joking when I say the threads should be closed... BUT I really don't see what there is to discuss. Do we discuss other pattern makers or whatever he did before getting promoted on here? No. What did he truly add to the fashion conversation for there to discussed. I'm sorry, he's someone who needs to be banished from the fashion conversation, he's about as relevant as the former Ungaro designer Lindsay Lohan now.
