Sabato De Sarno - Designer

well Marco Bizzarri chose him for Gucci, he could now choose him again for Elisabetta Franchi!
EF is fine with Filippo Zagagnoni.
EF offering is basically Philipp Plein with no PP hexagon monogram, they are fine with one single head designer honestly...

The menswear selection for SS25 RTW is just vile.
Who would ever want to buy a shirt for garish colored psychedelic surfer print all over the garment...for 2.4k?
The whole outfit screams tacky hypebeast...

I actually love the beaded trim detail on that shirt but the print - which is loud but boring at the same time- and price are a huge no go for me.

vile is a strong word to use for anything Sabato has done tbh. Nothing he has done is worthy of a visceral reaction. Demna and Miuccia have been able to do ugly and vile in a way that resonates with large audiences and deserving of discussion and emotion. Sabato is a nice guy who was too scared to do vile. I would even argue that Michele did ugly and vile.

It is actually ironic he has one of the shortest tenures, yet one of the most active and lengthy designer threads after his dismissal.

I agree with this. It wasn't vile at all. In fact going even a little vile would have been more in line with Gucci. Sabato was too safe, flat, boring, and quiet, and really inoffensive design wise ... too « perfect », but because he was being thrusted and spotlit by Kering as something special along with the lack of storytelling, silly dancing, and perpetual clueless dear-caught-in-headlights look, it caused a strong dislike and rejection.

I agree with FashionPower! VILE! Sabato hates storytelling yet Gucci trains their salespeople to do so at least twice a month. That is a huge disconnect between Sabato and Gucci and their culture when he arrogantly said he hates storytelling. Gucci was once setting the trend and was actually rich in storytelling and historical cues underneath the maximalism during Alessandro’s tenure. I’d be grasping at straws trying to tell you a story of what makes that shirt so unique, what inspired Sabato to create it, and how you’d need it in your closet for that price.

How did Alessandro’s Gucci go from here:

To the Sabato’s Gucci here:

What is the story behind this look and for how much? Sure, Alessandro made some out-there looks too but they were creative at least. With the current Gucci, it’s almost as if Sabato just took inspiration from a particular Sacha Baron Cohen film. I’d elevate the vile comment to repulsive!

Ancora does not do fittings apparently...

i guess this thread is still active because Gucci is a loved house and people are mad/ shocked how he has been giving this opportunity to throw it away. And to end up with millions on his back account. It gives a bad precedent and misleading a generation hungry for fame...Ancora represents all the a CD shouldn't be.

Also that he was part of the equation of the Gucci debacle. Let's be fair and honest he is not the only responsible but its true that with a better performance maybe execs could have surfed the situation in a less embarrassing way. But that's life and business, with a mediocrity management and creativity what do you expect....

And Ancora is someone who milked his opportunities in order to be richer or become a star so i wouldn't be surprise if he is preparing his comeback...His colleagues think he is a joke so he has nothing to lose actually...

Sabato is obviously a fun boy with a good personality and crazy connections. So no. I doubt he cares at all. He’s over there with his hot husband, miles of friends, tons of connections (what got him Gucci in the first place) not thinking about us. Reminds me of myself really.

Sabato should teach classes on manifesting

Let’s not forget that not only did he publicly state that he hates storytelling, but he also publicly stated that he doesn’t like jewelry and “only wears the Cartier bracelet my husband gave me” (New York Times).

Gucci had an amazing jewelry line that Alessandro revived and built up the brand’s Costume and Fine Jewelry all the way to Gucci finally making it into the High Jewelry and the High Watchmaking market. Allegedly, Gucci’s jewelry division grew so successful under Alessandro’s time that a separate sales team had to be created and trained for their boutiques. Their artisans and jewelry division probably thought Kering lost their minds hiring Sabato after he made those statements and under his direction, pumped out mediocre designs starting from the Marina line.

A shame really, I found Gucci’s jewelry line actually interesting under Alessandro and I should have bought some pieces before they were sold out. At that time you could even tell someone was wearing Gucci without the branding. Sabato literally threw a budding specialty of Gucci’s growth to waste.

I loved Gucci fashion jewelry! As much as I now love Valentino jewels! In fact the jewelry team is the same

That for me was the point when I ( as i am sure many on this forum) was thinking that Sabato sweetie you have a herd of PR people around you at least consult them before you say things like that?? smh to this day:censored::furious::important:bash:
