I will be fond of his tenure simply because of all the good laugh and roasting material he gave us.

Remember when we were roasting the whole Gucci creative / execs team under Ancora's tenure and bitching over their clueless decisions 24/7? Ancora's thread might be the biggest one in here dedicated to a designer LOL
Ancora's flop collections, his cringe interviews, the useless documentary to push the debut show, the Alessio Vannetti drama, Benjamin Cercio getting payed to do nothing, Riccardo Zanola's cringe campaigns, the Bad Bunny x Kendall fiasco, Davide Buzzoni getting caught on Raya looking for a sugar daddy, the holiday 2024 campaign with Solange Knowles carrying a monogram bag (LOL), random people getting appointed at senior manager level with 6 figures salaries leaving or getting laid off in 6 months, Ancora's joking about him getting fired by Cantino. If you think about it, it's embarassing how terribly managed a multi billion company was during these two years. If I were Pinault, I would be so ashamed of myself, I'm sorry.
I had so much fun honestly and I hope the new Versace by Miuccia & Bertelli follows the same route. The collections might be bad but at least the drama behind the business moves is fun.

it was both basic and cheap looking .. this gucci is just a different kind of cheap and basic. one is italian other east euro different ..one is mcdonald the other burger king both are junk food chains you should not consume

Come on @PDFSD , it may have been basic, but cheap looking? It's a bit of a stretch if you ask me. Anyway, you could easily apply this criticism to basically any other designer if you start to pick apart their collections. I could pick dozens of pieces from The Row, or Phoebe Philo, or Nicholas Ghesquiere, for example, and present them as being even cheaper looking than whatever Sabato did. It's just a futile exercise and endless comparison game. Even Hermes has cheap and tacky looking items.

I agree with @tourbillions , a lot of Sabato's pieces were quite luxe in feeling, and of course I am talking about the runway pieces, not what was on the website or commercial offering. Sure, there were some duds here and there, but overall his pieces were definitely not cheap looking. The insides were really well-done. The jackets and coats were made with haute couture finishes. Obviously he lifted those things from the Valentino Haute Couture studios, but I was impressed with the way he could bring those couture finishes over to Gucci RTW. The seaming was pretty impeccable too. The leather goods offering is a different story.

oh i stand on it and that's exactly what i do i pick apart collections and i agree Hermes , NG , LV Chanel in any era even Prada have cheap made and looking stuff i don't deny i worked for some
i also expressed my distaste for LV products by NG or Hermes ikea design graphics etc

i am sorry but i dont live for bonded stiff leather or neoprene logo sweaters , yes he worked on coats and changed the lining etc both in taste and execution he no pilliati per example.

The guy barely knew some differences in fabrics types this is from his own team , spend hours on where to place the logo or a web and requested zara items to be picked up for research they have good basics etc was the excuse.

your talking about someone that got moved in valentino form collections as they did not perform well yet he was promoted because he was a god boy.

who ever likes or loves this be my guest but i trust my own eyes and ears and hands and brain cells when it comes to fashion and brands , if its quantum physics i would take your word for it. not on ancora boy

both are bad ..two things can be wrong at the same time

one could argue at least demna has a signature ..but that does not make it the right one for gucci under tom cosplay on a budget either.
normalize that even when we can compare does not mean one option must be better, sometimes both are the wrong options.
both look like Zara (trend infomend report) drops... 2 weeks apart.

Honestly, why should I pity Sabato? The fact that he used to be Gucci’s CD doesn’t mean I have to lower my standards for him. He’s just not that talented, there are designers in New York and London doing far more interesting work than he ever has.

I don’t feel bad for calling out someone who earned millions euro paycheck to deliver work that mediocre. There are much better people out there to praise lol.
