Yesterday...the vid's on mercedesbenzfashionweek.com :flower:

He is so very true to his Indian culture, though he has an ingenious way of infusing modernity into the aesthetic which can be a bit 'heavy' when done in too literal a fashion.

Very special and thoughtful collection. These clothes and DVN designed clothes should get together and marry, perhaps!

His color palette is so wonderful. Very similar to last spring, which I adored.

I definitely agree that this is very unique and different. Some of the clothes are a bit hippyish for my taste (especially in the video), but the way that they flow and move is very reminiscent of traditional Indian clothing.

I wonder who (if anyone) will pick up this line....I would have loved to get my hands on some of the dresses from last spring. :innocent:

His s/s 07 effort was glorious indeed! The styling is giving this a hippy vibe, but if it were to be decompressed, some of these pieces could be doable beyond the hippy spectrum, I think. The skirt in the final look, esp. with the belt, are very Yohji - mainly Y's.

thanks for the pics wiw...

i like the colour palette as well...
though i think some of the shapes are a bit too 'shapeless'...
it's a bit potato-sack-y in places...

thanks for posting the pictures! :flower:

This is an interesting mix of inspirations....I guess it's supposed to be more "peasant" than hippie. I like the idea, but I do agree that the shapelessness of some pieces is a problem. Oversized works for Yohji so well because his underlying shapes are strong....very conscious of the body, even as they float away from it. Some of these dresses are just hanging there.

I would love to see a winter collection from him though.

thanks too from me seanut...:flower:...

Oversized works for Yohji so well because his underlying shapes are strong
i also think it works because the shapes are usually black- so very graphic...
which changes everything...

still...there's a lot of nice stuff here...
