Samantha Cameron

David Cameron just officially became Britain's Prime Minister, replacing Gordon Brown. Often referred to as "Sam Cam" his wife Samantha Cameron is seen here wearing Erdem on her way to the Erdem show at the Fall/Winter 2010 shows at London Fashion Week.

You can't see it here, but Samantha is due for a new baby this September. What about this makes her a role model you may ask? Because just last year, she lost her oldest son to cerebral palsy and epilepsy. The fact that she is 'fighting on' despite such a recent loss suggests to me that this is a woman filled with indomitable faith and hope.

May she be not only a fashion role model for this new era in England, but also a constant source of inner inspiration for women around the world as well.

I don't think it's her most flattering picture, but I'm glad she made the list. And we'll probably see more if her style in the next months, after having her baby.

Are the first two pictures recent ? I thought the Camerons were at Chequers right now.

I believe so:
She's had to move house, adjust to the demands of her husband’s job, and to top it all she’s eight months pregnant.

But Samantha Cameron would appear to be taking it all in her stride as she popped back to her old home to pick up a few remaining belongings.

The Prime Minister’s wife was positively glowing and had a smile and wave for some of her former neighbours as she emerged from the Notting Hill home in West London carrying a white vase.

^oh thank you ! I didn't think of checking the dailymail to have the info.
I was wondering, do they have the right to "redecorate" Chequers or they can only do that to the flat at 10 Downing Street ?

Samantha Cameron gives birth to baby girl
By Robin Millard (AFP) – 4 hours ago

LONDON — Prime Minister David Cameron's wife Samantha gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday, making the child only the second born to a serving British premier in 160 years.

Cameron said the birth of the "unbelievably beautiful girl" was "absolutely thrilling", but her early arrival during their summer holiday in Cornwall, southwest England, had come as "a bit of a shock".

The baby, weighing six pounds and one ounce (2.7 kilos), was delivered by Caesarean section around midday (1100 GMT) at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

"She'd been having contractions for the last couple of days on and off and thought this was time to come to the hospital to check out and see if everything was fine," a clearly excited Cameron, 43, told reporters outside.

"The next thing we knew we were getting into the gear and the baby was coming out. The baby popped out at about 12 o'clock and they seem to be doing fine.

"My job was to make the toast and the tea and things like that. It's absolutely thrilling, really exciting.

"It was a bit of a shock. I always thought it was possible because Samantha's have tended to come a bit early."

When the pregnancy was announced in March, the baby was said to be due in September.

Samantha Cameron, 39, was driven by car to the hospital, arriving at 8am (0700 GMT).

The couple already have a daughter, Nancy, six, and a four-year-old son, Arthur. Their first child, Ivan, who had cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy, died suddenly in February last year, aged six.

They too were all delivered by Caesarean section.

The Conservative leader said Nancy and Arthur were "thrilled, bouncing up and down, and dying to say hello to the new baby".

The baby girl is the second child born to a serving British premier since Tony Blair's son Leo in 2000. Leo Blair was, however, the first since 1849.

Cameron said in March the couple wanted another child.

"We were very keen to have another baby after Ivan died and sometimes it takes a while before the stork pops one down the chimney," he said.

The Camerons started their summer break on August 16 with a few days at Chequers, the prime minister's country retreat northwest of London, before moving on to Cornwall, where they have taken previous family holidays.

The casually-dressed couple had posed for photographs on Sunday at Daymer Bay beach, with a heavily pregnant Samantha wearing a patterned yellow dress and a cardigan.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has been in day-to-day charge of the government while Cameron has been away and the Liberal Democrat leader may now find himself "holding the fort" for an extended run.

Clegg said he and his Spanish wife Miriam, who have three young sons, were "absolutely delighted by the fantastic news."

Cameron had been expected to return to work next week, but is now likely to take some paternity leave.

After Cameron became prime minister following the May general election, his family moved from their west London townhouse into 10 Downing Street.

However, once some renovation works have been completed, they will follow the example of both Blair and his successor in office, Gordon Brown, by switching to the larger flat above number 11, the finance minister's residence.

No names have been decided for the new baby, but Cameron said his wife was going through a book of Cornish names to have as a middle name.

Bookmakers William Hill said Marnie was the 2/1 favourite for the new baby's name, followed by Enid at 3/1 and Annabel at 4/1.

Margaret, possibly after Conservative former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, was 50/1.

So, the baby's girl's name is Florence Rose Endellion. The bookmakers were so wrong.
