Sarah Kees from Wiesbaden | Mother Agency: SMC Model Management | Booking:
[email protected]
While most people at her age play hide-and-seek games in the dirt of their schoolyards, Sarah prefers to get both her hair and facebook profile picture done by the most elitist creatives the industry has to offer. I have been fanatic about the fifteen years old student's prominent cheekbones and curious stare ever since I saw her first day polaroids. The obsession has passed onto several industry people like Vogue Germany booking editor Julia Lange who regularly spoils the Wiesbaden born student with her finest bookings. A true stand out at Wolfang Joop's Wunderkind presentation (casted by Gillian Wiechert, another big German casting agent) where she rocked the place along Querelle Jansen and Iris Strubegger last week, Sarah has got editorials upcoming in various top magazines like TUSH and here is what she thinks of German food:
How were you discovered?
I was scouted by my mother agent Veronique Kern one and a half year ago. I was shopping with my parents in a big mall when she saw me and asked if I was interested in becoming a model. I said "Yes!" which was the moment that changed my life.
What are the best characteristics of your agent?
Veronique's smile and her clothes! She's always on high heels, a fashion queen. She's also a very honest person and that's why I love her. She takes care of all models and can manage everything easily!
Your least favourite German city?
My least favourite city? Good question because I don't remember things I don't like. But the best city is Berlin!
What is the most harmful thing you've ever done at school?
I am a very respectful person, I've never done any naughty things, sorry!
How does being from Germany help you in the industry?
What helps are my very German characteristics like being on time, professional and disciplined. I also know that there's this iconic German designer who always pushes his German girls.
Your favourite and least favourite German dish?
Best German dish is Bratkartoffeln. Schnitzel are not very lovely.
Which German models are you friend with?
With my SMC fellow Julia Zimmer, she's a nice person, I really like her. Also Charlotte Nolting and Antonia Wesseloh. It's always nice to be with her, we meet each other pretty often. Last time wasn't even a week ago at the Wunderkind by Wolfgang Joop show in Potsdam which was exciting!
Your favourite and least favourite German celebrities?
My favourite German celebrity is Claudia Schiffer, she's an idol for me because of her marvelous career and for still being successful in the business, aging beautifully. I hate to say something bad about people but my least favourite celebrities are celebrities who aren't actually celebrities. We have a lot of them in Germany - "Z Promis" (Laughs)
We Germans are not exactly talented when it comes to styling and so on. Give the Germans at your age some style advice!
Wear what you like and wear what you feel comfortable in, the best accessory is confidence and don't put too much weight on opinions of other people. There are so many "styles" all over the world so everyone should just wear what he likes. My teacher at school thinks I look like a star wars yeti with my fake furs but I usually feel very fashionable wearing them. But well, my teacher and Anna Dello Russo don't have much in common.
