i also like embellishment, so that's not a problem . . . and i think slouchy bags should be larger . . . and i'd like to spend $300 or under but am flexible. any recommendations?

this is the smaller size (8"H x 9 1/2"W x 5"D), $158

it's not slouchy but here's a quilted royal purple velvet one from Anna Sui on Net-A-Porter, with a chain shoulder strap.

I just bought a massive royal purple slouchy suede hobo
from Topshop, for only £40! They had velvet purple handbags at the time, they were about 9" by 15".

Have you checked out www.blisslau.com?? They have a gorgeous purple velvet accordion bag, for $375... Don't own one, so not sure what the quality is like, but this was featured in Lucky magazine several months ago.
