^ That doesn't always happen imo. Some designers suprise you with a model that hasn't walked one runway show but there's. For instance, Sosheba walking for Givenchy, Rose walking for Louis Vuitton her first season, etc. Thats how all new comers start, and formal new comers make room for the next group of newer models the seasons after next. Thats just how the fashion industry works.
