Caffeine, I'm inclined to agree with Yasmin and fashionista-ta - it's all in good fun, isn't it? The author is pretty much a self-declared fashion illiterate (well, she's probably exaggerating, but whatever ). I think even if you disagree with her views on style, it's still a witty and well-written article and good for a laugh. Particularly the bit about the rhinoceros with credit cards.

And to be perfectly honest, I think she has a point... Don't get me wrong, I've never been a fan of the "beautiful" shoe; I don't own a single pair of stilletos, and Manolos leave me cold. Nevertheless, every time I see those Balenciagas, part of me can't help thinking they were secretly meant as some kind of perverse joke, and that Nicolas and Pierre must be laughing all the way to the bank.

nice article- I think the author has good points. I see exacly what she's saying about more clunky "purposely ugly" shoes being in style right now.

Anyway all these fashion things go in cycles. Stilettos were very hot there for a while, what with sex and the city and everything, and all the girly styles that were going down the runway-

so the only natural reaction would be the opposite- big ugly clunky shoes.

OMG at those Balenciaga's.... Can anyone walk in them?

now looking back, it is really a shoe season to me. there wasn't any statement coats this season as the Balenciaga coats from last yr, and it didn't seem to me that there were any new "it" bags coming out (the miumius are cute, but not that hot). The shoes though, entered a new territory with so many choices.
