when buying clothes, how much should one expect the clothes to shrink after you've put it through the dryer? let's say if you bought, for example, a 100% cotton t-shirt, or cardigan.
 
Wow, this is practically impossible to answer... If the garments say they can be tumble-dried, you should expect minimal shrinkage...

i bought that cardigan (on the above link) online.. its made of acrylic/wool. the thing is, i'm a 38r, and i bought an XL size which says on that website 46-48 is the XL measurements..... so i may have gotten something too big..

oh well, i'll just have to return it i suppose when it comes in from the mail, the shipping is from all the way in the uk to my home in california... :doh:

i just thought that if it shrank after i put it through the dryer, that it would be the right size for me then.

^ Wool will definitely shrink.. wool garments are generally dry cleaned.

Regardless, if you look back at the size chart, 46-48 was the CHEST measurement... 36-38 is the waist measurement, so you're likely fine ;)
