well, they haven't cast anyone for edie, but everyone else is set. according to imdb.com, gwen stefani and her husband are in it:
Credited cast:
Peter Bogdanovich .... Thomas
Michael Des Barres .... Ed Sorrenson
Marian Faddis .... Genevieve
Lady Victoria Hervey .... Baby Jane Holtzer
Meredith Ostrom .... Nico
Guy Pearce .... Andy Warhol
Gavin Rossdale .... Gerard Malanga
Gwen Stefani .... Richie Berlin

i do think they need to cast sienna. she would be perfect for the role. i think she resembles edie more than anyone else, and they seem to be of equal talent, and equally known for similar things.

What's up with this part of the article:

"But as Law’s star waned in the wake of back-to-back flops, and the couple’s relationship seemed to fizzle, sources say Galub’s ardor for the actress cooled as well. "

Are they not engaged, or is there trouble in paradise? (cue dramatic organ music...)

I've been thinkning about it and now i think Britney Murphy would be a good Edie. They both have big brown eyes and big smiles. They both are short and skinny. And Britney Murphy is famous for being ggod at playing mental patients and Edie was in and out of institutions her whole life. I don't really want a big name actress to play her but it looks like they won't make it withought one.

It's a shame Mischa looks nothing like Edie - otherwise she would be my choice. Her personality seems to be a good fit - spaced out...

I'm a bit scared for this poor movie since most of the Hollywood brats are sporting overgrown Ediesque eyebrows - Lindsay Lohan most prominently so. This, to me, might suggest that she has her eyes on this role.

Miller Wins Back Sedgwick Role Following Law Scandal
58s.jpg
Actress Sienna Miller has won back her role as pop artist Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick in forthcoming movie Factory Girl - two months after movie bosses reportedly dumped her from the production in favor of a "bigger role". Earlier this year British newspapers reported Jude Law's fiancee Miller lost the part because she was not famous enough, although the English beauty insisted the film clashed with her role in London play As You Like It. But movie insiders claim Miller's celebrity status has been helped by Law's admission he had an affair with his children's nanny Daisy Wright three months into his seven-month engagement to Miller. The 23-year-old will now play drug-addict Sedgwick in the forthcoming movie, reports British newspaper The Daily Mirror. A movie insider says, "This is not the way Sienna would have liked to have won the role of Edie Sedgwick or a big action role. But she is not going to kick a gift horse. Professionally speaking, being so badly treated by Jude is the best thing that's happened to Sienna. Now she's deemed A-list famous. If you're in the papers you've made the grade and American movie producers want you."

According to the Daily Mirror, Sienna's also won a role in the movie about the Queen of Sparta

Great! I think she seems more suitable than Katie Holmes, that's for sure....

Now let's see if Jude's unbecoming Casanova antics has rendered him any closer to playing cheating, promiscuous James Bond ;)

what an odd twist of events ...

but good for her regardless ... i think she would have done a fantastic job with or without law, or scandal, or whatever.

katie holmes in the role would have been a deal breaker for me - that would have been unbelieveable and unwatchable

Hmm. I guess the scandal gave her a little more fame and maybe some depth. I don't know if that is tantamount to the pain and betrayal she's had to endure though. What a catch 22...

Gwen Stefani .... Richie Berlin QUOTE]

the part is Brigid [sp?] Berlin [a/k/a Brigid Polk]
she was a long-time Factory member. featured in 'chelsea girls' {injects herself with speed on camera} and other andy films, and worked at Interview through to andy's 1987 death. [she often transcribed interviews off andy's cassettes] I do not know about gwen's part but in real life brigid was one of andy's longest & closest friends, & employees, and 'superstars.' "the velvet underground live at max's kansas city" is a tape that she recorded sitting down the front.

Gwen's to play Richie Berlin, not Brigid. They're sisters, both hung around with Warhol and Edie, but Richie's mentioned more than Brigid in the book "Edie: An American Biography." Both were bisexual speed addicts, really out of control, spending the family fortune, shooting themselves and everyone else up, etc etc. Richie was very slim while Brigid was a biiiiig lady. Gwen better start eating if she wants to be Brigid!

interesting, thanks. i must ber more familiar with brigid from interview, andy's diary, the velvets, 'chelsea girls' etc. was richie in any of the films? 'chelsea girls' was probably andy's biggest commercial film and brigid's performance might be the most memorable in the 4 hour film

Holding on to a high-profile Hollywood boyfriend is hard enough, but for Jude Law’s quirky gal pal Sienna Miller, holding on to a high-profile role has proved harder. Months after she won a plum part as tragic Warhol Superstar Edie Sedgwick in George Hickenlooper’s ballyhooed Factory Girl, the bohemian Brit was devastated to learn that she was being relieved of her duties. Producer Richard Galub had originally packaged the movie around Miller, telling friends that the starlet was born to play the speed-addled original “It” girl. But as Law’s star waned in the wake of back-to-back flops, and the couple’s relationship seemed to fizzle, sources say Galub’s ardor for the actress cooled as well. Pressed to explain Miller’s abrupt departure, Holly Wiersma, Galub’s coproducer, cited scheduling problems. “Sienna’s doing As You Like It in London, and there’s a conflict,” she said. “We went back and forth with her, but it didn’t work out.” Despite Miller’s dismissal, however, the flick is still on track, with a “well-known American actress” (whose identity Wiersma declined to disclose) set to replace Miller in the role. “Sienna’s a great girl, but we’ve found someone else who’s going to do a great job too,” Wiersma added brightly. Miller’s publicist confirms that the actress is returning to a theater gig in London but insists that Miller never officially signed on to the Edie movie.

Well, my interest in this movie just went down quite a few notched. I'm sure they'll replace her with someone totally subpar.

sad...was looking forward to her in it. maybe they will replace natalie portman since she also audition for the role!
