Singapore Shopping

/\ why don't you enlighten us? I might go to Singapore for business.

Singapore and shopping...
Most Singaporeans drive to KL or JB to do their shoppings...
But if you ask me I say shopping in Singapore is a tad expensive but with lots of choice. Takashimaya and Tangs are my fave haunts because they're not only the best place to shop but also the national shopping institution akin to Harrods and Macys.

singapore

Need help for shopping in singapre please .

hi there, there isnt any singapore shopping thread is it? because i have been searching upside down and cant find singapore shopping one hiks...please help..anybody knows where to buy christian louboutin shoes except at on pedder? please2 help thx a lot =)

Basically, if you are looking for big labels, Orchard Road is your best bet because that's where all the big brands are ( think about Bottega, LV, Cartier, Tiffany & Co, Hermes, etc ) Department stores to check out : Ngee Ann City ( more famous as Takashimaya which is actually a department store inside it), Paragon, Tangs, etc.

While for the quirky indie designer label, you can try Haji Lane ( look out for Salad, Pluck, etc ) or Ann Siang Hill ( Check out Style Nordic, Asylum, etc ) or Club Street & nearby Erkine Road.

So far i only heard about that one place...

But if you are interested with Manolo Blahnik, there is one boutique at Hilton Hotel opened by local socialite Jamie Cuaca.

I'm going on an exchange term (August till December) so I'd like to ask a few questions:

Do you have drugstore chains selling cosmetics) If so, which (e.g. watsons)?

Do you have a Sephora or are cosmetics only sold at department stores... I'm originally from Taiwan (and spent 2 weeks each summer there), but I live in Austria, so I'm curious what Singapore has to offer.

Do you have high street shops like H&M, Zara... (I know there's Giordano)

If you know any homepages of the companies please post a link here :flower:

Highstreet shops: Zara, TopShop, Gap, Warehouse and a Singaporean one called Southaven which I loved

No Sephora from memory but heaps of department stores have very extensive cosmetics sections. I think Watson's may have some cosmetics?

Thank you! I just checked out the site from Ngee Ann City... but I didn't know about Southhaven, Warehouse, Gap and TopShop. I'm already excited ^^

There's no Sephora but department stores like Takashimaya, Tangs and Isetan have a wide range of cosmetic counters.

Besides Topshop, Warehouse, Zara, Gap and the chain boutiques mentioned above, there's also River Island, Mango, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Esprit, Bebe, FCUK, Forever 21 etc. No H&M yet, but I've heard a rumour that there's one opening at a new shopping centre on Orchard Road this year.

Check out other major shopping spots like Wisma Atria, Paragon, Vivo City, Raffles City, Hilton Hotel's Shopping Gallery etc. Club 21 carries a number of great designer labels.

Thank you! I'll be checking them out, have 4 months and hopefully not too much to study ^_^

No Sephora, but apart from Watsons, there is also another drug store that sells cosmetic - Guardian. Btw, different branch sells different range of cosmetic - depends on how big they are. For Watsons, the biggest i've come across so far is at the basement of Ngee Ann City ( aka Takashimaya ) Be prepared to be sworn by a huge number of promoters promoting their respective brands though ( so it helps to know what exactly you are looking for ) Definately not for those who can be easily persuaded by sales assistant unless you want to end up with a bunch of stuffs you dont really need.No H&M, but there are ZARA, MNG, Guess, Warehouse, POA, Forever 21, Banana Republic, etc as mentioned above. But the steal, of course - are the quirky local labels that's not available at any other countries.

Are there any good marketplaces to do some shopping in? For souveniers, jewellery, etc?

There aren't many marketplaces. Not the Victoria Market or Paddington sort anyway. There's a small one around Bugis Junction, though, which is the main one I can think of.

Also, Haji Lane has a lot of cute shops that tourists love (some locals too) - mostly boutiques and little cafes, shophouse style. You can find anything from obscure, independent designers to shops stocking Marni and Karl Lagerfeld, and cafes offering hookah/shisha. The surrounding streets and general area is worth exploring as well. You could probably find some interesting jewellery if you look around.

As for souvenirs, it depends what sort you want. For the usual postcards, magnets and that sort of thing, there are heaps in Chinatown, Little India and the basement of Lucky Plaza (it's an old shopping centre right on Orchard Road - in the middle of the city's shopping district).

We will definitely check out Haji Lane, thankyou for the information! :flower:

try Ambush/Surrender on Devonshire Rd. They carry Jeremy Scott, Passarella Death Squad, Original Fake, YMC, House of Holland ...

also check out Stamford house for some Singaporean brands.

Guerilla X CdG in Singapore has disappeared?
