Sketches & Illustrations of Fashion Designers

sketches are beautiful but i doubt if everone designer today still does sketches!
most -not to say ALL- designers just give out their ideas to illustrators to scketch, its been happening since Erte who used to draw Paul Poiret's designs.

avoid getting misleaded: fashion illustration is not fashion design guys ;)

and you know this how???? how do i know your not just making up nething? and dont say its common sense

i've been a design student ages ago :ninja:

i'm a fashion designer/consultant/freelancer ,believe me,
we always give out our rough sketches & design ideas to someone who's job is illustration, it simply takes time and experience to illustrate and time is always short :flower:

Apparently no one knows anybody ... well... we're getting to know each other!

no problems versace :flower:

in some 'basic' design schools you dont even learn how to sketch/illustrate,
industrial sketches are much more to be focused on, since they portray in detail the construction of a garment.

there are special courses just for illustrators, which do not include pattern construstion and other design details.
fashion illustration is a mix of fine art and the ability to express fabric textures/effects on paper, its a job like any other in the fashion business
(and a very well payed one for someone able to add some originality in this)

No ... you shouldnt change your avatar .. don't worry! that happens all the time!
(I mean look at my user, and I'm a d00d, too)
And with Lee's sketches ... Lee is the actual first name of designer Alexander McQueen ... I think Alex is his middle name and he used it as his fashion persona as a suggestion from Isabella Blow. Most fashion insiders -and close friends as Kate Moss- call him Lee.
I was just hinting if someone could find anything from him .. as i said before there are some at Showstudio.com ... but I'm lazy and uber-pampered by fellow fashionspotters!

Lee's sketches are here.
I want to go to CSM, and you'll feel just like home about being a straight guy in this forum ... this place is flooded with you guys! (check out the "How do you swing" thread on The spot)

Ladies and Gents,

Here is one of my own sketches. I did it in Illustrator which I just learned over the last year. I am proud of it
cause it actually looks better than my freehand sketches. But it took a hell of a long time to make, and it
is in no way anything like a real Fashion Illustrator would make. They are real artist, i am just trying to get my idea across. The flat sketch of the garment next to it is so people see all construction lines. It would be placed in the spec package that the factory recieves to make it.

Please give comments if you like or hate it.
