Soy Beans

It's actually very unhealthy. Although it contains protein, it produces a harmful chemical reaction in your body.

People were healthier (foodwise) a long, long time ago when there was no processed foods. No skim milk. Keep to the basic, minimally processed food - it is the healthiest.

You know that all the negative 'medical information' comes from one paper written by two quacks right? Not that I think eating too much soy is good for you - it's in EVERYTHING. But to then cite milk as an example weakens your stance - drinking other animal's milk is not healthy nor natural.

As far as I can tell there's nothing wrong with soy. The majority of health problems seem to come from cooked food - it's not really natural nor healthy to cook food at all.

^the raw food followers also believe that health problems occur that way. however most -almost all actually-- raw foodists strongly ban soy from their diet, regardless if it is raw or cooked. i'm still trying to figure out why the medical industry doesn't have an opinion on soy's negative effects yet...

Yes! It's a main ingredient in Japanese food and we have one of the highest life expectancies in the world.
That alone made me get up and pour a glass of soy milk. I don't want to die!:lol:

^ That's so cute!

My grandma used to say that soy milk can actually make your skin fairer.

Soy/soya products are a mainstay in my diet. Although I do like cow/sheep/goat products, I believe in consuming foods low on the food chain. It is one of the ways I avoid chemical buildup that develops in processed foods and foods that are higher on the food chain.

Check out Vitasoy.com and Azumaya.com. There is a great deal of information about soy products on their sites (they are sister companies).

Edamame is called mao dou in China. I seem to recall there is another word for edamame in Japan...

Soy is very good for you. Of course if you OD on it and eat a shitload a day it obviously will have side effects to your health like a lot of other things in this world.

there's been quite a few debates on the effects of phytoestrogen on the human body.
basically, they've been arguing that phytoestrogen is damaging to male fertility and that it can affect women with a pedigree of which breast cancer is eminent...
however, everything up to date has been controversial and there has been no real answer.
