Yeah we pretty much have independent coffee shops on every majour corner (half of them can't even make my drnk decently) and then a Starbucks within 3 miles in every direction. I can count 10 in my area alone. This is Seattle though.

Ma_Petite_Chou said:I just wanted to add something to the converstation about "everyone" having $2 at their disposal to drop into starbucks. This is generally true for the majority of the population of course. I mean I'm a pretty poor college student in NY and I still manage to spring pretty regularly for my Venti latte.
But, I was in a starbucks yesterday night and this older guy comes in, probably 60's. He wasn't dressed so that you'd look at him and think "oh, he's homeless" He walks in, looks in the little round trash recepticle that starbucks has built into their counters and then keeps walking back to the bathroom, I was sitting at a table by myself nearby, that's the only reason that I noticed. It did seem like kind of strange behavior though. Well, the guy was in the bathroom for about 30 sec. comes back out and goes to the trash area again. He looks around really fast and then grabs an empty cup out of the garbage and fills it with some milk that they reserve for coffees. He then went over to the little counter area and proceeded to pretend that he was sitting there and enjoying a coffee like everyone else. I don't typically take notice of homeless people or beggars on the street, but this just broke my heart for some reason. So on my way out I bought a coffee and gave it to him. He was really grateful.
