Starbucks coffee??

Well huh, I find that funny that many of you mention "real coffe" i.e. expresso as the chic alternative to starbucks coffee...
I just like "good" coffee...:innocent:

:) Coffee has always been a 'social drink', so it goes to reason to people will flock to have social meetups at the coffee shop, or if you happen to have no time/friends I suppose you must resort to carrying coffee around to create the illusion of having a social life.

Starbucks is more of an American thing though, Starbucks is to your local coffee shop as Pizza Hut was to the Italian pizza shop around the corner. In Australia, our popular coffee is from the Gloria Jeans chain and it seems to overtake Starbucks in terms of 'carry-around'-ability over here. But then again, if you consider that an accessory trend, Aussies also seem to be Boost Juice fanatics...

This a little late, but I used to work at Starbucks, and the mocha syrup is actually made from a big bag of powder mixed with boiling water... sorry to burst your bubble!
HAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

i personally don't go there just cause they are everywhere nowadays,
and all the things i've tried at starbucks are just average, definately not worth the price.
plus if i want something warm or something to give me that boost.
i just get some arroz con leche or atol de elote. WAYYY better then anything at starbucks, and that's as fresh as you get. oh and it's a $1. B)

Excuse me?

And Starbucks, an accessory? It's just a cup of coffee to me really.

Yeah. I agree one can feel naked without it...just like a social smoker can feel naked when they need a cigarette.

I would NOT say the trend began with the Olsens. BUT I did see some idiotic girl order a grande coffee in a venti cup! I mean get a life...

I agree that coffee is helpful in getting through the lectures.

But I like real coffee. Double tall skim cap, or doppio macchiato (much cheaper, stronger..just doesn't last as long in lecture). What bugs me is the people who drink 400 calorie nasty seasonal drinks every single day and then complain when they gain the freshman 15..!

And walking with it is something you learn. Lol, softgrey..I spilled all over about three outfits my first semester as a freshman in college..not fun. When you are facing a boring lecture and the sun has barely risen...starbucks is necessary. Although I should probably invest in a Jura instead of buying so much starbucks..

All coffee comes from Ethiopia originally, so Ethiopia > France and Italy. Now can conversation return to Starbucks...

Isn't that like saying chocolate comes from the Mayans...when it was actually the Europeans that first mixed cacao with sugar? I mean didn't the Italians invent the cappuccino?

I was being ironic. The English 'invented' football, rugby, tennis, cricket and a whole host of other sports we're utterly crap at. The entire idea of one country 'inventing' something is generally absurd. Italy didn't even exist when cappucino was first drunk! Why not just stick to talking about Starbucks... rather than the old country x > country y troll-fest.

I don't understand. Could someone explain this for me...

i need to ask everyone to please stay on topic and be respectful...
as per tFS guidelines...

thanks...

and PLEASE stay on topic...
which is...
in case anyone forgot...
whether or not carrying a take out coffe cup-from starbucks in particular- has become an accessory of sorts...

*carry on...

A girl ordered a medium (grande) drink in a large (venti) cup. Although I dont see the big deal, I'd think it's just to not spill...

I'm a Dunkin Donuts girl. God, there toasted almond coffee is to DIE for.

we don't have any near me. otherwise i'd go on 85634620860879 dunkin donut runs a week.

the almond coffee is superb.

as for starbuxx. . .they're everywhere.
and slowly taking over the world.

the cup as an accessory item seems outlandish, but i often wonder if individuals really do think about the chain they're promoting and showing off.

"i bought overpriced coffee, it's so hot right now"

there was a story on the news today...
82% of all americans drink coffee...
56% of them drink it every day...

apparently large increases over last year...
so it's not just our imaginations...
this is a national phenomenon......at least in the US...

i get starbucks everyday...i actually crave it and truthfully i end up drinking it all before i even get out of the car. im rarely seen with it out but i completely think that some see it as an accesory (mind just went blank with the spelling ..sorry)

oh wow, softgrey. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing...Coffee is such a mood/fatigue lifter, but that's only temporary. Anyway, I had a nice hot soy latte this morning..
