"I met these kids from a friend who dated one of them. I kept seeing them around, skating. I started to skate with them and became friends. We hung out every day this summer. I have to say, it was one of the best summers I’ve had in a really long time. It just made me feel like I was 17 years old again. For this shoot we went to spots in Chinatown that we’ve skated before. We just hung out, and it was really mellow and fun. All the kids really liked the clothing and wanted to put their own outfits together and Stevie was really into it. Altogether it had a lot of fun energy.”

The end of summer can be a mournful occasion, but with the smells of BBQ smoke and sunblock still fresh in the air, now’s a good time to celebrate its passing. Photographer and pro skateboarder Alex Olson partnered with stylist Stevie Dance to document the final days before the seasons change in downtown NYC.
