Steffy Argelich

PULL&BEAR, THE TEEN MOOD
WORDS BY INÉS NAVARRO AND MATILDA PERIS
PHOTOS BY HENRIK PURIENNE
With her incredible natural beauty, Steffy left Barcelona some time ago to eat the world from shoot to shoot, and the results reflect she’s really managing to do so. One of her latest works has been with us shooting the new collection Teen Mood, and we take the opportunity to talk with her to know who she is and how her world is like.

Who is Steffy Argelich when there aren’t photographers or stylists surrounding you?
-The same person.
When and why did you decide to go to Paris? I imagine it has had a big impact on your career, now we see you everywhere!
-I decided to move here 3 years ago because I met a really handsome guy, who is my boyfriend now, and moved in with him. In the last year I signed with one of the best agencies of the world, which has helped me to get where I am now.
Do you see yourself in Paris for a long time? Where would you live otherwise?
-I love Paris, I would love to live in Los Angeles but it seems impossible right now.
You were there not so long ago shooting for Pull&Bear, what can you tell us about that experience? Any funny anecdote to share with us?
-I was working with Henrik Purienne, who is a close friend of mine. Working with him is always fun, and to add some spicy, Alberto Murtra was there as a stylist as well, so all the session was non stop laughing.
How do you feel more comfortable, in front of the camera or on the runway?
-I feel better in front of the camera, which doesn’t mean I don’t like runways… But taking pictures is what I like best, I can laugh, I can dance, joke with the team, honestly going to a shoot is going to have fun, to me.
Did you ever think you would arrive so far with your career? You’ve walked for Louis Vuitton…
-I never thought I’d be here, but I know I want to go further!
Some time ago we say you at Pop magazine in a wonderful story by Harley Weir, one of our favorite photographers, with whom would you like to work?
-So far I’ve worked with Peter Lindbergh, Juergen Teller, David Sims, Steven Meisel… I think my favorite people are Steven and Peter.
By the way, and talking about photographers, you work a lot with your partner Quentin De Briey, is it easier to work with him? What’s the best and the worst?
-Working with Quentin is the best… He’s my boyfriend and he knows what I want to do and how, and we don’t even need to open our mouths, just by looking to each other we can talk about the whole session… If we like the styling, if we like what we are doing… The only thing I don’t like is that he asks me to do a lot more than he would ask a model who wasn’t his girlfriend.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
-I like traveling with Quentin and forget about the world, sunbathing, drinking mojitos and laughing with him.

She's in an editorial in the newest Vogue Italia. She is in it along with Sasha Pivovarova, Kirsten Owen and Guinevere van Seens so she is in good company. For me, she is by far the best one, the real star. Can't wait for HQs and I hope to see more of such work from her.
