Steven Meisel - Photographer

Does anyone have the book 20 Years: Dolce & Gabbana ?
Some information about it Dolce&Gabbana have defined contemporary style, infusing it with a strong Mediterranean identity. Their creations are sensual and unique, based on impeccable tailoring and the utmost respect for quality and detail, and are adored by Hollywood icons and pop stars alike, conveying a message of exquisite style in a universal language. This luxurious slip-cased volume celebrates twenty years of an incomparable partnership, drawing together their most significant moments in fashion. It is a collection of memories and iconic images which marks every step of their evolution, featuring the work of photographers such as Steven Meisel, Mario Sorrenti and Ferdinando Scianna, and models including Gisele, Linda Evangelista, Isabella Rossellini and Marpessa.

Of all Meisel's work, I like the Dolce ad campaigns best, so creative, surprised me every time.

No but I've seen some parts of it.

There's a few things that I've been thinking about concerning the interview.

Firstly , It's strange that Ingrid Sischy didn't ask him about the way he transforms the models . I mean, Meisel is known not only for making some new girls famous by making them feature on 'Vogue Italia' but also because he generally collaborates with other people to change their look and he's probably the only photographer I know who interferes in the transformation of a model's look . Linda Evangelista became an It girl after Meisel asked her to have her hair cut, Karen Elson made it when he had her hair cut, dyed in bright red and had her eyebrows shaved , among a few examples.

The other thing is that Steven Meisel is the only famous photographer who never had a book dedicated to his work , there's just the 'Sex' book he made for Madonna but he wasn't the main subject of it . I just find it strange.

On an unrelated note, I've noticed that he always wears something to cover his head , God knows why...

And I've noticed he always wears black~~~ Actually, I've just seen few of his pictures. I don't like the Sex book, though I like some pics in it, I still think it is erotic:innocent:

Here are some pics from vogue italia maybe in 2004 on artandcommerce.com, but they are as small as stamps. I can't find bigger scans

Does anyone has bigger scan?

maybe you could find them in the elise crombez thread in supp. cast?:flower:
i still have that issue lying around somewhere but i'm almost sure better scans are up already.

It's hard to believe his American work and his European work are by the same photographer. His US Vogue covers all look distinctively American, and all alike.

I ran across this in an old Vogue (US) -- 2004 June. Entitled Summer Escapes. Lots of models!

Steven Meisel

One of the hottest fashion photographers around, yet I cannot find one informational article about him. Is it that no one cares about Steven Meisel? I'm doing a project on him and I need to write an essay explaining his work and his techniques, things like that, but there's not one drop of useful information on him. You'd think for such a talented and well known photographer there would be something... but there isn't. Anyways, I'm in dire need of some help so I was wondering if anyone here could direct me to any useful articles on him, or any ways by which I could acquire info on him.

I like this ed,too. I like his European work better, it seems that most of his American work is shot in studio (bored me sometimes). What is his last US Vogue cover?Does he shoot any vogue us cover after Liya's cover?

To complete this thread. I've just scanned the Vogue Italia May 2006 editorial photographed by Steven Meisel. The cover and another editorial are also made by him.
